(Sorry I should have specified. I meant the line in general, if a certain line is cut it causes a cellphone to have no cellular network so it won't make calls. On the other hand if a wall phones line is cut it just means the line attached to the wall. I suppose you could take it either way. I'll readd the previous response now that it hopefully makes more sense.)


You hear it ring once before the sound of static stops the call. It was like the phone line had been cut mid-call.

Alright. I look around my apartment, taking stock and noting the layout in case I need to grab something or make a quick exit. What is in here? What exit routes are there? What about ways to look out and survey outside?

I say to the girl, "How are you feeling? Can I get you anything? You should probably drink something. When was the last time you ate?" I'm kicking myself internally for being so slow to remember the first aid procedures, but to be fair, I don;t get a chance to practice them too often.

The only door was the front one leading out to the hallway, there were no windows in the room itself but there was one in the bathroom. The bathroom was to the left of the door to the apartment, the window was small and seemed to be just big enough to squeeze out of and you were only on the second story so that was a stroke of good luck. Your bed was all the way across the room from the front door, it was a small room so the front door wouldn't be a long Sprint even if you were in danger and had to make a run for it. When you walk into the apartment the kitchen was all the way at the opposite end of the room and to the left, it was a little ways from your bed.
"... I don't really need anything. I ate lunch not long before the attack..." she replied

"Well at least we know that there's a very low chance of us being infected now that the first and second wave of infection has passed. The only way we could really be infected now would be if they evolved, but even if they do evolve it should take a couple years before they are strong enough to infect those of us who seem to be resistant to the infection." she said trying to make the mood more positive.

"I can't believe they left me here all alone. They all get to go to the movies, and what do I get? More time cleaning up their messes." you grumbled to yourself as you picked up clothes from the ground. You went to the kitchen and opened the fridge looking for a snack but it was nearly empty, "...I'll just walk to the nearest convenience store..." you grabbed you phone and some cash. As you left your apartment you put your earbuds in then stuffed your hands in your pockets. After a 10 minute walk you arrived at the convenience store, "Milk... Lettuce... I'll get myself a bag of chips while I'm here." just as you stepped into the chips isle the shelf collapsed nearly falling on top of you. A creature you had never seen before crawled over the shelf, for a second you froze, not knowing what to do. Then you threw down your groceries and took off out the door. You ran all the way back to your apartment and up to your room, locking yourself in. No one else was home, you were stuck there, all alone with nobody to comfort you. To take your mind off of what you just saw you opened up your laptop and searched up your favorite game. You instantly opened up the chat . 3 people were still on the chat SkyJump1, 3_3LOLOL, and CrystalHearts. CrystalHearts was talking about how irritating their little sister is when 3_3LOLOL mentioned a recent murder near their apartment, "I swear I saw it through my apartment window, the guy was attacked by some kind of monster!" 3_3LOLOL typed. SkyJump1 was suddenly interested in the conversation, "Yea right. I doubt that, I bet you just want attention.". You joined in the conversation as well, "3_3LOLOL isn't lying I ran back to my apartment from the convenience store a few minutes ago. Some kind of monster knocked over one of the shelves." you tried to help but only became SkyJump1's next target, "Great, we have 2 crazies in the chat. This is why I don't join public chatrooms, I hate when people starving for attention go to this jshdhekbmk,jsn" his sentence was all jumbled at the end. After talking about the monsters it made bother you and 3_3LOLOL worry, CrystalHearts didn't seem to actually be involved in the chat, they most likely just left it open then went to do something else. It showed SkyJump1 was still in the chat but no matter how many times you and SkyJump1 tried contacting them, they never answered. After that you both left the chat, not wanting to know what happened to 3_3LOLOL. Will you leave your room or starve?
