I did this thinking of a lily that comes up each year in our yard. It's not blooming yet but it's pink and white. Not quite as much white as on the lily on the Aeridini but I couldn't have speckles plus white tips so I just made it as close I could think of.

Here is a spring rainbow aeridini. Winter is so dull with all its browns and greys. But when spring comes, we get the occasional rainbow! Getting hues of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple to balance each other and not clash was actually somewhat challenging. I wanted all of the colors to be visible, but I didn't want them to be overpowering or gaudy. Here is the result:

I even tried to keep the colors in ROYGB(I)V order, with varying degrees of success.

Edit: I did like my previous design of the sky, but several others had done it already. So looking through I discovered no one had done my favorite flower, so here:

Based on a warm spring rain, the real heavy ones where you stand outside for just a few minutes and you end up soaked. :) Those are my favorite days...

Red Bellied Aeridini

Three things common to my yard in spring are:
Lilies.
Wild lilies start to appear all over the house yard and sheep paddock.

Daisies.
Wild daisies start growing up all over the yard and paddocks, and bordering the roads. Driving through the country side with an abundance of yellow, purple, orange, white, blue. pink and green is quite beautiful.

Snakes.
Australia is well known for its many species of snakes.
One of the snakes we see frequently on our property is the red bellied black snake.

So, in light of all this, I have designed my aeridini off of a red bellied black snake hiding in the garden.

I tried basing this off of the rose bushes that were near my grandmother's home. I always enjoyed watching them unfold their beauty every spring.
