The head/snout shape is intended for females and males.

I was also a big confused with the snouts, but my boyfriend pointed out that with salmon the males have a long hooked nose while the females have a round nose. I thought that this may have been implied uniquely with the venes in some way? xD it threw me off too at first though

It's not just salmon, trout are the same way too. There are many species out there with differences between male and female, from face shape, to colour, to size, to anatomy even. For example, it's only the female mosquitos that suck your blood, and it is often the females that are larger in various fish species(possibly some animals too).

The few things I noticed were how both feet have one claw/toe going upwards for most of the drawings. Now I've never really looked at a reptile's feet before so I can't say it's wrong or anything but it looks kind of odd in my opinion. I also agree about how the noses and necks should be changed, but otherwise great work! I'm not very good at criticizing things, I think, or researching for that matter, so I can't say that my post is anything but a waste of time! (>~<)<

Here are some other examples of dimorphism that affect head shape between species.

Atlas Beetle
Elephant Seals
Huia
Madagascan leaf-nosed snake
Purple-throated carib
Sea Lion

The difference in the beak shapes of the purple-throated carib is an adaptation to feeding on two different species of the same genus of flowers. This allows males and females allowing them to utilize different food sources. This is one of the theories behind the huia as well. There might not be a cannon reason as to the dimorphism with the ny'venes but it wouldn't be hard to come up with reasons besides them being creatures shaped by magic.

Why would you compare a bipedal creature with far more in common with a dinosaur's anatomy, to the anatomy of a quadrupedal lizard of any type? Such strange commentary from some of these anatomy comments going on. o.O

Highly defined chest muscles are necessary for any bipedal creature, as its center of gravity must change along with its gait, or it would simply fall on its face instead of walking. Quadrupedal animals have no need for such muscles, their four legs place all of their weight uniformly.

The raised claw is rather obvious in its origin, no?

I personally enjoy the sexual dimorphism in Sylestia, typically. So many people forget how common it is in nature! Say, I bet that's a BIG egg coming out of that Ny'vene mommy. Maybe she has a more pointed snout structure to help baby break out of that nice big egg that such a large creature is laying. There you go, a reason for dimorphism, if you must have one. ;)

Anyhow, I decided to try my hand at poking at the females wing, and both necks. I feel that Scath's suggestions cover the suggestions I would make for the wing attachment to body really nicely already. I just wanted to try nudging that far wing on the female a bit mostly, to see if I couldn't get the position to look a bit less straining.

A comparison pic since some of my changes were quite subtle. ^^

Really like the new Ny'vene! Scrolled through some of the comments... I LIKE the one toe up, as if to suggest greater dexterity or ferocity. Chest muscles SHOULD be larger on fliers to support their wing movements. I love the female's slender, arching neck. I think babies are SUPPOSED to have bigger feet, as well as big heads, rounder eyes and features than adults, and their wings should nearly pull them over when they try to get around. Their wings and anything else softer on them should be crinkly, as they've recently been somewhat crushed inside the eggs. I think you're right on with them.

With other baby reptiles or avians, the neck seems too thin to support the weight of their heads, so maybe these should be a touch thinner? But how old are these babies? I'm wrong if they haven't just hatched. **04/22 If they haven't, then having rounded tummies but not pudgy limbs is perfectly in keeping with many kinds of young including human; they develop muscles and lose some fat, but they keep the pot awhile longer.**

For the adults... the male's mouth is open. Maybe his tongue lolls out and curls up at the end a little, somewhat like a dragon's? **04/22 Scratch that - they're both awesome**

Idk that I have any REAL suggestions; you've made the female more graceful, and the male more charismatic without losing his 'fierce'. Nice.

04/22 Saw the changes, read more comments, edited my post. LOVE the shading! Beautiful job!

And thank you!!

My biggest complaint on these is the hatchlings... Why are the noses so rounded? XD if anything they should be pointier because, ya know, egg tooth :>

The female's face seems a bit pointy to me compared to the male/fat faced hatchlings. Otherwise I really like them!
