It's fine if you can't. I prefer pictures but if it just isn't possible you can describe your characters appearance.

"Hssssss" you cried back at whatever was giving chase. Usually your the chaser not the chasey.
Your lungs are burning from the effort of heaving yourself over all these obstacles and your very close to collapsing.
