inspired by a summer night sky. since there's too much light pollution around where i live (and it being winter) i found an image off the net and used that ^^ there's just something so alluring about night skies that i can't resist sky based designs :P

imagine walking along a beach on a warm summer night, feeling your feet sink into the soft sand and the gentle waves lapping at your ankles. the moon isn't quite high, but it's bright and illuminates the pulsing city stretched out ahead of you. the stars are numerous and glow like fireflies above and the illuminated clouds trail across the expanse of velvet blue with no rush. you can take your time- it's your midnight stroll.

My Coconut Cream Bulbori!


Cause all this heat at the moment has me longing for coconut things! Coconut ice cream in particular!

My inspiration is the campfire when I go camping during the summer.

Here's my "fun in the sun" kelpari, based on swimming in a summer lake. I love the contrast between cool water and hot sunshine!

This is my Palm Tree Aeridini! Tis but a simple gal but I think she'll do.

Orca Ryori



With summer comes the return of both the Northern and Southern Resident Killer Whales to the Salish Sea. The Northern Residents consist of 3 clans, A Clan, G clan, and R Clan. A Clan consists of 10 pods (20 Matrilines/family groups), G Clan consists of 4 pods (16 Matrilines), and R Clan consists of 1 Pod (4 Matrilines). Overall, the Northern Residents have ~200 members. The Southern Residents consist of J Clan and 3 pods, J Pod, K Pod, and L Pod. In total, between all three pods, there are only 72 Southern Residents left. Returning home has a slightly different meaning for both populations. For the Northern Residents, this means that they spend from July to as late as October, in some years, on the North end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. For the Southern Residents, this means that they return to their home waters of the Puget Sound, Washington State, USA, specifically to the San Juan Islands. Although this year has been of slim sightings for the Southern Residents, the exciting news that at least 3 females (J35 Tahlequah and L72 Racer are confirmed, K20 Spock might be, but it's only speculation, and L90 Ballena might be pregnant according to the Center for Whale Reasearch which montors the Southern Residnet Population) are pregnant in the endangered population inspired me to make an orca themed Sylesti. I also apologize for this big info dump. I, the orca nerd, saw the chance to nerd out a bit and took it.
