I had a school dance that I went to but other than that my valentines day was uneventful.

I'm picking my father up from the airport today though and tomorrow we're going up even more north to ski, snowmobile, and see some ice castle. It'll be fun. We were also going to see a Quaker village but it's closed for the season so I'm really disappointed by that.

I watched a horror movie by myself yesterday for the first time :D I didnt go to sleep until 1 but that's normal so I didnt think anything of it.

I keep begging my mom for another bird for my birthday, which is in May, and she says we arent getting anymore pets. I know for a fact we'll get more chickens this coming april though. I just really want a birdy friend for Indy because he lost his bonded mate a few days after we bought them.

I'm going to the flower show next weekend and I'm getting a Luna moth like every year and it's gonna be really cute

Your story... it's actually really good! I love how you build tension and add a good amount of exposition, and that show-don't-tell method really works with it. There's enough context to understand the setting and the importance of her mission (even if we don't know why it's important yet), but not so much as to spoil future events or bore the reader.
I did find a sentence with a repeated word: Now they creaked and squealed in protest as they strained and finally strained open to reveal the only room in the castle left untouched by the fire.
Random tense change: She caught the cork with her teeth, deftly twisting it off and now letting the bottle fall to the floor, where it shattered.
Another tense change: ...which was practically a miracle giving how the rope lashed wildly in her hands.
Missing comma: ...snatching up a slender, leather-bound, gilded tome...
Overall, a really good read and I hope to see more :D
