This blue energy is known as qi. It is said to be what flows through all life forces, it is especially prominent in it's counterpart (see paragraph 4) It when used properly can be harvested and used to power certain machines, the use of qi however is extremely restricted, many say it's cruel and inhuman as it is an energetic life force, so one would have to be dead and then the energy harvested from the dead body.
