Gallagher stepped back a bit, but not by too much. He didn't want to go far from her, even if it was only a couple of inches.

The poison was strong. and very fast-moving. It had already traversed half-way through her body. After all, it was the reason why the assassins fell back so quickly. But they hadn't counted on a priest to save the day.

It did take the angel some time to remove it entirely, working with the pressure of Gallagher hovering over his shoulders.

By the time he had finished, Lowell and Giselle had returned to Gallagher's side.
He felt himself weak on his feet as he stood up, having exhausted a large portion of his own energy healing the Empress, but the combination of the headache and distress of the 3 of them threatened to knock him out entirely.
"It is done."

Gallagher gently picked her up. " I thank you for your services. I have no doubt the Empress will too. "

Lowell didn't seem to pay Es much mind as he followed behind Gallagher, concerned for them both.

Giselle remained behind to assist Es return to his quarters, who seemed so weak on his feet at this point.

Gallagher carried the Empress straight to her own quarters, ignoring the confused, scared, or suspicious looks of any maid, servant, or guard.

Lowell remained at the door like a guard dog, watching as Gallagher set her in her bed.
He knew what Gallagher was already thinking and had no need to stay anything at this point. But still, he couldn't help himself.

"You would truly go to any lengths for that woman. It is something I admire.
I only hope she consider the same for you, Gallagher. I know you are more than a simple peasant servant to her. And to myself as well.
If it were me alone protecting her, I am not sure I could manage to pull off even a fraction of the feats you do.

He watched her for a moment. " ...It is the least I could do, for all the things she has done for me. " He replied softly.

He gave a nod.
"You would make a good knight, friend. This nation could use far more men of your character."

" I don't think i'm fit to be a knight. They're too...armored-up. And it seems they all come with a large sense of pride. "

"True, true. The thought of you in heavy armor is almost funny.. But I can't help but see you that way now. You have a spirit of character that would make even the noblest of knights jealous. Don't ever lose it."
He folded his arms.
"I expect you will stay here until she wakes up? If that is the case, I will fetch food for the 3 of us. I do not intend on being gone long."
