Lowell adjusted his glasses, thinking.

"But without knowing the exact source, the nature of the influence itself, and now lacking the one being that can attempt enough of a miracle to remove it, our options are very cut thin.
The alternative I was going to suggest is that I attempt to remove it myself. It is not likely that she won't be affected by my own influence, but I feel that this would be something much easier to remove when the time comes."

"I'm not sure if there would be a good time to remove it, exactly. The longer it goes, the more likely it is to reach a point of being more or less incurable if it is powerful enough as it is now to down an angel and leave her incapacitated. I expect whoever or whatever is behind it would not risk missing a chance at striking again to ensure her demise."
He made it very clear who he was referring to, working off his creeping hunch of who exactly the source may have been.

"To remove it, I would do the same as I have done before with souls. Though to do it while fully cognizant is.. off-putting.
She would not be in any physical danger, but it would take some time to remove the dark force from hers..
If, it can be done, of course. But that is a scenario I wouldn't like to consider right now.

(I used to have a reaper character way back when by the name of Nyx (hilariously though she had purple eyes). Not sure what happened to her, tbh. Purged with the rest of the characters I never used? idk

A lot of my "once evil, now protagonist" characters have red eyes tho idk what it is.)

(thankfully shes the main character. one of them, at least. shes pretty big-brained, but can be a murderous lunatic at times. gosh I love her)

He stares at her for a moment before nodding. " I'll make sure she doesn't enter until you're...finished. "

(Sounds like she'd get along well with Lowell. Who literally turned out being a way more cold, serious and smarter, apathetic to downright murderhappy Lyon. It's weird to me.
Not often I have characters this serious I've liked, so I think I'll keep him around.

I also imagine Giselle just treats Lowell like Honey Best treats Frozone from the Incredibles.

I can't shake the image of him like having a secret soul stash somewhere and she just starts belting into him when he asks if she did anything with it.)

Lowell gave him a nod and took a breath to focus in the off case his mental companion tried to get any ideas.
For.. better or worse, they seemed to be in agreement, but he wasn't sure how he knew exactly what the disembodied wolf demon was thinking.
He didn't stop to think much on it or if he could even trust that assessment as he tapped into its power just enough to let his claws regrow before sinking them into the lower portion of Seraphina's chest.

He felt his hand guided by the wolf as he pried her soul free, looking it over with a bit of a grimace. Lowell could feel the powerful dark energy rolling off it in waves, wondering just how much was even possible to salvage.

(she probably would. Her own boyfriend-soon-to-be-official-husband is also a wolf...person thing. but he's a pacifist, so uh...;-;)

Usually, ones soul was white, or light blue. But not this one. Hers was covered in a thick, dark smoke type of substance, that was slowly but surely making its way inside of her soul. And eating away at it.

Lowell stared the soul down with a bit of malaise, trying to figure out how to proceed.
He didn't have much time to give it thought as his companion took over, forcing him to utter words in a language and voice he did not recognize. The soul was quickly engulfed in infernal flames that ravenously ate away at the blight. He almost panicked before they died down after a few moments, leaving only a minor tint of the shadows that had once existed.
Lowell knew instinctively that they would fade with time due to the Empress' own willpower or another purification attempt, but it would not be further worth the risk of injury or corruption to try again in her present state. He gave the demon a mental thanks for the work and insight and worked on returning the soul to her body.

He looked up momentarily as he could hear Giselle grumbling outside the door about not being let in before returning quickly to his work.

The Empress showed no signs of being inflicted with any sort of pain as the substance was burned away.
