I think I may be misunderstanding Genetics/Genetic Tests. What is the point of them? The only time I've run into a Sylesti that has 'unknown' in it's genetics is when it's a hatchling, but the genetics come up as soon as they are Adolescents. Are these tests useful on any other than hatchlings??
Carried genes are very important for breeding. Say I want a lupora with jeweled horns, but none of the ones I've caught seem to have them. However once I test them I find out one of my females carries the jeweled horns gene. That means if I breed it with a male who carries I have a 1/4 chance, or if I breed it with someone elses male with visible horns I have a 1/2 chance.
If I hadn't known my pets would carry these genes I wouldn't be able to breed for pets which did have these traits.

Oh, really? Thank you very much for telling me.
If your pet has carried genes, but it is not tested (it'll still say none) does this effect the offspring?

Yes, it affects the offspring whether you know it or not. The pet knows it, and it can carry onto the offspring.
The pet will always have the carried gene, if it has it, whether you see it or not. That's why breeding with untested pets is cautionary -- you dunno if something you DON'T want pops up lol.

So does this mean that you only need to genetically test captured and breed Sylvestis to see if they have hidden genes, but generated Sylvestis will absolutely never have any hidden genes thats not supposed to be there?

@Sylvette,
That's right! Generated pets never need to be tested. Only captured and bred pets.
