OK I wasn't sure where to put this but what I want to know is have you ever bred a baby only to end up with either visible or carried genes you were not expecting?

The reason I ask this is because of this fellow:

Meet Blu. I brought him of Amaya a little while back and both his mother is a captured pet and his father an enhanced generated one. The mother has visible wings and carries paint and the father has visible Tri Tails and carries Butterfly Wings and Advanced Runes.

So imagine my surpirse when two of Blu's children who I bred myself end up carrying Spirit flames instead of Butterfly Wings which are apart of the same group.

At first I thought that this little girl might have got it from Star her mother who carries all four of the same genes Blue does. But then when I did a random breeding with another female Zolnixi who was also enhanced generated with visible Tri Tails and Paint I got this girl... who is also carrying Spirit flames. So have you ever come across anything like this while breeding? And if so what?

Basically, butterfly wings is dominant to spirit flames. So you can show wings, but carry flames. Same for paint/banded. Whatever comes first for that gene/mutation in the generator is dominant to what comes after. So if I bred a generated wings(AA) with a generated flames(AiAi), all offspring would show wings, but carry flames(AiAi). A quarter of F2 (grandchildren), will show flames. Basically, your pets are heterozygous dominant for their traits. Does this help?

It's like two parents with brown eyes having a blue eyed baby

Yes it does some what except for the fact the the first parents of star the mother of the first baby were generated and the father of Blu was Enhance generated same as the second mother I mated Blue with. So the only way Blu could have inherited both wings and flame was from his own mother who was caught in the wild.

But I wasn't aware that wild sylesti could have hidden traits as well as the obvious ones. Or generated ones for that matter that is what was so surprising.

Thank you for clearing it up anyway .
Also I am still curious to hear about others who's babies have inherited the hidden gene rather than the obvious one.
