@Cat1990, those sliding puzzles were a pain at first for me. xD
I had to google how to solve 3x3 slider puzzles. I believe this was the guide I used. The puzzle in there is a great way to practice how to solve them. If you don't solve it and time runs out, it's alright; you can just move on without solving the puzzle.
The guide might be hard to understand at first. Basically, in general, to solve any 3x3 slider, you have to focus on getting 3 blocks in a straight row/column in the correct spot. Then you worry about the other 5 blocks getting into place from there.
Hope it helped. c:

@Cat1990,
The general form of the solution for a 3x3 slider puzzle that I usually use is as follows:
Think of the completed picture pieces numbered as follows:
4 | 5 | 6
3 |M | 7
2 | 1 | x
(You don't normally see them numbered this way, but I find it easier to explain this way.)
So then the 'x' is the empty space and the 'M' is the middle piece.
Notice that the numbers 1 thru 7 wrap around the 'M' in ascending order.
The basic goal is to get the items 1 thru 7 arranged in this ascending order.
So if you have any that are out of order, say the top row has 4, 7, 6...
You can fix that order by pushing 'M' to the outside edge, pull '7' into the middle, and then rotate all the outer ring pieces around '7' till you have the gap just to the right of '6'.
This you can place '7' into its proper location and pull 'M' back into the middle.
If you repeat that process till they are all in the correct order, then you just need to complete spinning the outer ring till they are all in the proper positions.
It is easier to see with pictures, but hopefully this should get you on the right track.
Good luck!
