There is a known issue where images on the Site flicker when they change. This issue is definitely affecting newer versions of Firefox, but may affect other browsers as well.
This is not a known issue with Chrome.
Basically, anytime you do something that triggers the Site to change the image(s) you see to something else, Firefox is struggling and basically is replacing the image faster than it can actually load the image. This causes a blank white space (or if something else is behind the area, such as a background) to show for a split second while the image(s) load.
Unfortunately, this appears to have been an issue with Firefox for quite some time now and it doesn't seem like they've put in a fix for it yet. There are some work arounds on our end, but for some situations - such as exploration - the work around would not be an ideal solution.
We will continue to investigate and attempt to fix this issue as soon as we can.
