Recently I have been working on a whole lot of projects, and decided to try to share how I do it to help others out. I am not really going to explain how the genetics work in this thread, so I recommend familiarizing yourself a little bit first on how essences and visible and carried traits work.
Before you start, have a project in mind. For this example I am going to use a project I am working on for a 6vis Draeyl. Here is a quick checklist of the things I recommend you have before you start breeding:
1. Essences of the pet you want to make.
5 are needed for a 6, 5, and 4 vis, and 3 are needed for a 3 vis
2. A way of organizing your pets.
I use a labeling system, where I start out with either GP or BP. This is referring to if a pet is a Generated Pet, or a Bred Pet. Next, I label them with a number. GP1 would mean generated pet from pair one, while BP1 would mean bred pet from generation 1. Next, I specify which breeding pair my BPs are from, so I would say BP1.1 is bred pet generation 1 breeding pair 1. This way, when I am in the breeding grounds I can easily see which pets are going to be bred together. Finally, I say the gender and the project ID. If you have a lot of projects going at once, it is helpful to ID your projects so you know which one is which. So, BP1.1 1M p003 would be bred pet generation 1, pair 1, male 1, from project 003. If you want, here is a more in depth guide to how I label my pets and what each number means.
