releasing pets would work, along with missions to get more gold

see guide to making gold and guide to mission pets and missions
going around the fest zone collecting all the chests is also a good way to get gold

If you have unlocked the lost grove you could get 50,000 gold a day but just in case you haven't i recommend exploring trollblight caverns, you can dont get pushed into battles so you can just retreat every time you encounter an enemy and you can get 5000 gold an hour i think.
