I know, I know. Two questions in one day? What a noob. But I'm here to tell you it's actually three questions.

So, I've noticed that certain traits appear in certain colors. Blue is generally visible, while green is generally carried. But I have noticed a few other gene colors, such as purple. I've also noticed that there are different lettering inside the pararentheses () next to each trait. Sometimes they are different than the lettering you find in the generator, which begs to question: What do all these colors and letters mean?

Now normally, someone typing all this would answer that question. But not me. I'm actually looking for answers. So if someone could kindly let me know what they know on what the different colors and letters mean, that would be super helpful to me and anyone else who looks at this post asking the same question.

Blue is a Visible trait. In Untested pets, it is all visible traits, but in genetested pets, some of them may become... Purple.

Purple indicates that there is a Hidden trait- a kind of Carried trait located underneath a more dominant Visible trait (Dominance is N (nothing) > a > b > c > etc all the way down the alphabet. A is the most dominant trait letter, Z would be the most recessive/least dominant trait possible, as things currently stand)

and green is carried traits- traits carried in the genetics in a slot where the Dominant letter is N (nothing) rather than that of a trait

The letters in the brackets indicate their generator letters- so if you took our aur here:

her genetics are
Gene One: (DH) Marbled Tips
Gene Two:
(NN) None
Gene Three: (NA) Advanced Runes
Mutation One: (NA) Peacock
Mutation Two: (AG) Shimmering Jewels
Mutation Three: (AA) Finned Crest

So in green, we have the Carried Advanced Runes and Peacock
In Blue we have the Visible Finned Crest
and in Purple we have Visible Marbled Tips (gene letter D) with Hidden Quail (gene letter H) and Visible Shimmering Jewels (A) with Hidden Tempest Wrappings (G)

We go more in-depth here

Oooooh. Thank you so much for the helpful information! Would it be alright if I send you a message listing pets every so often if I have questions about their hidden carried traits? Just so that I can know what I'm doing and how rare/priceless a pet is.

Honestly all traits are worth about the same unless they're super newly released traits (since they can be gemerated/ mutated- main exception for trait values thus falls to Exceptional pets, who cannot be mutated, so if someone is after a particular trait they have to try harder to get it).
Even Restricted traits for the most part don't strictly have that high of a value, more than regular traits, maybe, but not super special awesome (since many people make majestic pets during fests, and the traits have select trait sets. Again, exceptions; in this case, first generation wilds/ non-majestic tagged/pbs with specific restricted traits, which require restricted trait disruptor(s) to have been used on them/ an ancestor, since there's usually a fair bit of rng in the disruptor rolls. It doesn't make them priceless, just may raise their value if a person were doing a breeding project with that trait as a desired one or something)

The one real exception is probably the Lost Grove restricted traits (you can see which those are listed here (or in the specific post for any given species' traits in that thread. They can be worth something, especially if you have a pet with more than one of the set. Pets with these traits will have the trait slot marked with a * (like this vulnyx here) (I'm not sure if that's the case if they're not tested, but if you have an infinite Scanner then the game will actively tell you that you've run into a pet with a Rare Trait when you run into them while wandering in the Grove)

You can ping us or PM us with questions about things, though, that's fine
