i won a 2vis pet during the summer festival contest, but i'm not sure how i'm actually going to receive it. is it a trade? does it just show up in your stables? is there some kind of process i have to go through to get it?

No process. But the prize-giving isn't automatic and Krin has to do some of the prize-giving manually. So the prizes aren't given out immediately. Just wait a while for Krin to do his thing and you'll get your pet delivered straight to your hatchery.
