I don't actually want to change the releasing feature, I just figured the title would get people to click and read because I feel like this still needs constructive criticism, even after the discussion I've had.
I feel as though the releasing feature of this game needs a better explanation.
The first time my things were bought and released, it felt like they were being "thrown away" by someone with some kind of malicious intent. I did not understand why someone would do that or what purpose it would serve, and because of that I felt attacked.
Because of this, I said and did some mean things as many other people have done on this website. Because of the lack of communication and a misunderstanding of the mechanic, I believed it was a personal attack or some kind of hurtful feature.
I was wondering if we could get some kind of universal tutorial for releasing, its functions and purpose on the website, and what bonuses it might give people. I would also like to ask that the rules surrounding it be made clear in a easily accessible place.
My reasoning behind this request is because I had no exposure to the feature, as I'm sure many other people have experienced, until I began talking with other people about it. It's only "a bad thing that happens" when you start the game and don't have enough space in your stables. Your exposure to it changes with the Lost Grove bonus or the festival bonuses and contests. I'm not even sure if there is another reason to do it, because I only know of those purposes from other people telling me about them.
I began on this site with the understanding that releasing was something that happened because you couldn't take care of something or you didn't want something. Because of that, I believed that the people who would release things were malicious or bad, or that in releasing pets I was abandoning them or throwing them away. However, after discussing it with people from the other perspective and gaining more understanding of the feature, I no longer feel that way.
I'm hoping that it might be like that for other people as well, and hopefully it will be less of a hostile topic to bring up.
The conversation I had about the topic can be found in
this thread, the bottom of the main post has some of my clarifications because I either misspoke or was misinterpreted.
