Tom's Monday Check In
I totally forgot it's monday, so that tells you how my week is going already xD
uhh so I horrified my teacher b/c I used my finger to clean up a bit of blood (in my defense, it was my own blood from a different finger <_< I wouldn't have done it for someone else's) so there's that
we had a major minor freak out b/c my dad almost found out I'm trans and while panicking about it at work later I accidentally did come out to my boss (she didn't understand why I'm frickin terrified of my parents ever knowing and I'm?? neither do I but you don't need to make it sound like I'm totally unfounded here) AnyWay
so uhh I kinda also forgot about this week's contest so all of y'all you made designs, post & ping me again, please
new favourite show is Dexter. I totally don't find like 95% of him super relatable
sucks to hear some of y'all (bun & spirit I think) had your power go out again :(

Cana's Whatever Day it Happens to Be Suffering Update!
I was going to write this earlier but I forgot until Tom pinged me. Ranting ahead. Just a headsup xD
Today, I was sad. Why? Because my orchestra teacher crushed my dreams. It's not even a big deal, but basically, this orchestra song has a really big piano part. My teacher/conductor gave the sheet music to all the pianists who were interested. Incuding me. So all the other kids in my class who got it didn't really care, weren't really practicing (I was talking to them about it. My friend Jayden literally threw it away.) Well this is like the last shred of my dignity because long story short I used to be decent at piano and took lessons, then my parents got mad at me because I played something badly and made me quit, but I still play random stuff, I just don't take lessons or do concerts or anything. And I'm kinda relieved because concerts stress the heck out of me. But I digress.
So since I have nothing to practice other than Canon in D (which is boring), I practiced that orchestra song. By practiced, I mean, played until my hands hurt from stretching past an octave and then some. About like ten times a day for a stupid song, for a stupid orchestra concert nobody would see except the parents.
Every single time we played that song in orchestra, I wanted so bad to play the piano part. I don't even know why, but I put all that hard work into that. 90% percent of the class knew. I'm sure the conductor knew. Jayden kept saying loudly "You should let *my name* play the piano part" every time we played that song, which was kinda embarrassing (and he knew) but nice of him. But she never let me, and I never asked her, being the stupid shy cowardly violinist I am. And then today, we were playing it and she was talking about the piano part while I made puppy-dog eyes at the piano because I always go mute whenever she brings it up, despite everyone telling me to ask her. Then, someone asked, "Well, who is playing the piano part?" And... the conductor said something like, "Maria! (Who I have never heard of, by the way) Because she's the only person who has ever played it for me. Once. She needs a lot of work, though."
Meanwhile, she's got probably the only person who's mastered that stupid piano part, who cared more about it than any other person in that school, sitting 10 feet away and dying in their chair. I practiced that song every day. I mastered it. I fricking memorized it. I could play it in my sleep. I could play it blindfolded hanging by my ankles. I forced my brother to play the violin part so I could practice with someone else. But no, she gives it to a person who has played it once in front of the class, who needs to work on it some more. No offense to Maria, though, I'm sure she's better than me anyways. Everyone is.
But that's not it. Stupid me has not learned from my mistakes and despite my friends encouraging me to ask her about playing it, I'm too scared and resigned to do it, so I just sit there like a rock and say nothing, while the conductor cheerfully tells us to pack up. Ta-da. Hard work thrown in the trash. It's mostly my fault, for not saying anything. But it's not like I was good enough for her anyways.
She doesn't trust me with the piano. She knows I play it, but for some unknown reason, she never lets me. My brother was her favorite student, because he was so good at the piano and still is. She let him play every single piano solo there was. I listened to the conductor talk about how amazing he is when her friend came over to talk to us about something. I was expecting to play at least one piano solo, but it's my last year doing this. The first year, we played one piano solo song, and she played it because "it was roo complicated". The second year, in came Nathan, who enjoyed asking random people out on a daily basis and called me... a bunch of four-letter words when I nicely asked him to stop kicking my chair. But he was a piano prodigy and the conductor worshipped him. The one time the conductor didn't let him play a piano solo because he was "more valuable as a section leader", she played it herself.
It's my third and final year in orchestra, and the closest thing to the piano I ever played was the xylophone, which, by the way, she didn't let me play in the actual concert for some reason. Maybe she thought I was going to screw up, because I probably would have. (I also ended up tripping over that xylophone and somehow managing to get a gash in my leg through my jeans.)
Serves me right to think I would ever be good enough for the piano, even after 12 years of lessons... Welp, guess now I'll just play Canon in D and cry over my stupidity.
Here's that stupid song by the way, it sounds cool but now I hate it. It's not even that difficult, though. I'm actually not sure if that version's the right one because I didn't listen to it.
... Also, I set a lab table on fire. On purpose. And then I tried to write something but failed miserably.

I did the same. I was at amp and could totally sing a solo. But..i didn't.
Whoops.
It was an easy song too. A million dreams. DOn't ask. We made the younger class jealous a lot that week.
