I think the 'world' idea is good, it'll allow for some more dynamic scenes. As opposed to an infinite white box with nothing to do xD

Maybe they randomly get dropped in a random universe and random things happen and they try not be killed, and they also try not to kill each other?? Idk lol.

Soooooo I was reading my dad's old DnD campaign idea book, I'm just gonna pull from that (not exactly his idea but based on it):
our characters were put here to be the first generation of heroes in the world, and that's what people around them either expect of them, doubt they can be, want to compete to be, etc.
We can accept or reject that fate
There is a final boss and if we find them, we can get them to make us go home
There's another final boss that, upon defeating them, will make us heroes in the eyes of all
And there's another final boss that was actually a scapegoat for all the occurrences in the world and it lowers everyone's opinion of us, oh no, the world was overtaken by evil, we have to go undercover and free the world and thus ourselves
etc. etc.
I dunno, I think it's a start
Many possibilities, nice and loose to play around with, allows for combat 'n' such, and lets you mess with us enough to keep you entertained, too
