~Dylan~

Dylan whipped around, the creature had made to fly away but had instead ended up some six meters down the gradual slope of the field that lead to the shore. His movement on land wasn't the best but he managed to climb down towards where the creature lay in the grass. He reared up and made to bring his massive hooves down on the poor creature when he twisted around and brought them down only about a foot away, pushing off hard and propelling himself towards the waters edge.

His heart skipped a beat as the hooves nearly hit him. That was his first strand of luck, then the horse made for the water. He knew well that was its plan, to drag him into the depths to kill him. This scared him. He had to get away, the only problem though was that his back legs refused to work. Panicked he drug himself forward on his front legs as he tried to get away. A burrow! Just ahead! If he managed to get to it then he would be safe! Panting he managed to drag himself closer to the burrow away from the water.

Dylan plunged into the water, the shock of the icy cold waves against him provided a moment of clarity. He hadn't fully lost control, after all he has stopped himself from killing the creature. He truly felt as if he was reigning in a wild beast as he forced himself not to turn back to pursue his would be prey and instead swam along into a cove that was inaccessible any way other than by boat and even then one would have to be an exceptionally skilled captain to be able to maneuver through the rocks that blocked off the mouth of the cove.

He let himself loose a little, swimming in circles, churning up the lakebed and chasing down several rather unfortunate fish. Once fed however he was able to calm himself slightly. Now that he was sufficiently mellow he began to feel the shame and despair of having fallen so low. Bowing his head low, he settled in a kelp bed and rested his head on his tail. He would leave this place behind in the morning.

Once in the safety of the burrow he laided down panting. His back hurt right above his hips, no doubt it was either broken or sprained. His legs would be useless until they healed either way. Least he had his wings though he had lost a bunch of feathers still. Right now he needed sleep. This burrow had no smell, it must have been abandoned. At least hopefully it was empty. Closing his eyes he settled down as best he could.

Lynn~
Though she loved the deep sea the woodland would always be her home. Today though she had to feed and to do that she had to go way out into the sea to prevent the humans from seeing her. Now though she was basking in a rock with her kill sitting well in her belly. She hated this form, it showed the true nature of her. A dark nasty being even though she was wasn't that. Unlike others of her kind she hated to see others hurt, despite it being instinct she had been raised as if it was the worse thing you could do to kill those you didn't need to. These fish were an example of that. She needed to eat so she killed them and none went to waste. With the cove below her she could rest easy, it was just her and the waves.

As the sun rose in the morning Dylan awoke in the cove still in his monstrous form. He didn't bother to disentangle himself from the kelp bed but instead just swam off, taking with him a half dozen new lake weeds to adorn his body. He swam towards the mouth of the cove and began maneuvering through the rocks, when he saw somthing in the water. The end of a tail sat in the water, whatever was attached was sitting upon a large rock. It was a mythical, he could tell that much but... somthing about them caused him to draw closer rather than to sink deeper and sneak past as would normally be his want.

Yawning she stretched a bit before rolling back into the water. It was soo chilly compared to the warmth of the sun though it still felt nice. But there was something odd about the cove this morning. There was something here, something like her to be plain. Craning her head about she looked about the water trying to find the other being. Fear crept over her, what if it was a human?!

With a splash the creature rolled into the water on the opposite side of the rock. Carefully Dylan swam around, going wide to be sure not to come into sight while too close to the stranger. Swimming around to another rock which had a cluster of kelp clinging to it he peeked around.

There behind the rock! With a loud shriek she pawed at the water. Elegantly she dove away into the abyss that was the cove. Maybe she could lose it in the maze of rocks. What if she couldn't? Then she would be forced to fight them head on.

As soon as the creature caught sight of him it bolted away. He had gotten a good enough look to know what it was. Another kelpie. And judging by the sound of the cry and the build of the body, a female one at that.

Moving into the open water, Dylan deliberately placed himself in a prime position for her to come up and strike him from below. He was making himself as defenceless as possible, he was larger than her and far slower and less maneuverable so it was clear he was putting himself at a severe disadvantage. Lowering his head submissively he let out a low, melodic call. True enough, it was in fact a variation of a mating call but among kelpie calls it was one of the very few that weren't hostile.
