Alright - so good news and bad news.

Bad News: Obviously, the process is taking a lot longer than expected. We have been having some issues getting the database functioning properly on the new server. It's not related to the data, all of that is fine. There's just some configuration issues that are causing problems and it's been a bit of a struggle to get on the same page with Host on getting it adjusted properly. Our Host basically has two tiers of support. There's the lower tier, 24/7 support and then there's the higher tier, Mon-Fri business hours support. At this point, I need the higher tier support to help me, which means I can't do anything until Monday. So, that's where things are now.

Good News: New server's performance seems really good. From when I could mess around with it, it was faster than our current server. Granted, there's 0 traffic on the server so that's assisting that. But the new server definitely is performing very well.

Additionally, once we get the new server all ready to go, the required downtime for the final migration should be very short. We've already ran a 'test run' and it takes like 30-60 minutes to transfer the live server's database to the new server - which is all we'll need to do when the time comes. Add in an extra 1-2 hours just to check over everything and for DNS to update, it shouldn't be a long downtime at all when the time comes.

So, in conclusion, I still can't give an exact date/time when the final migration will happen. If everything goes smoothly on Monday with our Host, it could literally be Monday afternoon/evening. Otherwise, I am hoping it's Tuesday morning. If Host and I still can't figure out things on Monday, then I have no idea - we'll just have to keep kicking the can down the road until things are working correctly.

But, that's where we are at this point. The Black Friday Extravaganza is still planned to begin first thing on Wednesday. So I will definitely be doing everything in my power to make sure all of that is on time with as little to none interference as possible.

When the migration downtime happens, Sylestia will be frozen in time until we're set up on our new home. So whether it takes 1 hour, 3 hours, or more - time won't pass at all during that.
