The compassionate spirit of the summer night sky, protecting the stars and all the creatures of the night. She is kind, giving and beautiful to sit and admire for awhile. Although I couldn't find an image to accurately reflect the inspiration in my mind, in regards to appearance, I am satisfied with how it turned out.

Once, long ago, summer time was not as pleasant as it is now. The summer was full of lightning and thunder storms and when it wasn't storming it was so hot as to dry and crack the earth. One girl saw this, and the suffering of all around and wished with all her heart that she could ease this suffering. One day when thunderstorms were rumbling off to the west and the sun was scorching the land to the east, she could take it no longer. She climbed the highest mountain and came between the two destructive forces. "I know you are both needed for life to exist, but you both are so powerful and raging upon the land that left to your devices, you will destroy everything and everyone!" The two powers considered for a time and would only agree to one option the girl gave. She would leave the life she knew and become the keeper of Summer days. In doing so, she would be the one to bring the sunshine filled summer days with clear skies and breezes for people to enjoy the time during summer, but she could not let every day be perfect. She would have to let the rains come. The agreement of her being the keeper of the summer days would ease the ravaging of the storms and the sun, but because of her actions the power of the two still grew and greater acts of weather -- such as the hurricane or the tornado, even droughts -- would come. She would not be able to keep these powers at bay, but she could promise that the days would return when the sun would shine and the breeze would blow and the days would be delightful again.

"I am the Keeper of Summer Days. May your day be warm and bright. Enjoy yourselves today, for tomorrow it may storm."

A Mid Summers Dream

Inspiration

I love the story of MidSummer's Night Dream.I thought about the coloration as seen by the right Lady Titania. After all...Its not Summer with out a little bit of dreams, romance, and the Fae involvement.

I was inspired by the sort of egyptian feel of many of the new items and the summery colors of blue and gold that are often used.

Blazing sun scorching sands and endless dunes upon dunes, this is the place from which she hails. Wrapped in a cloak which ripples like an illusory waterfall in the desert winds, she wanders alone. She is not a thief nor a bandit, yet she is no saint either. She may offer a drink to a helpless soul and point them in the direction of safety, but she would not hesitate to benifit from the abandoned possessions of any sun withered corpses she may find either.
Some wonder what may have lead such a beautiful young woman to live such a life, however some speculate she may not be human at all...

PS: In terms of inspiration for the original outfit design, I took a lot of influence from various video game and anime characters.
Sheik from the legend of zelda for the turban.
Zeref from Fairy Tail for the robe.
Alibaba from Magi for the knife and general ascetic.
As well as my own imagination of course for things like the wings and bangles.

Sun Queen

Burning Bright,
Summer Light.
Children play,
with delight.
but beware,
too much light
can be blinding
too much promise
can be binding.
too much sun
can
burn

The sun queen was based off of the summer sun, I've always found it fascinating, I mean the sun keeps us warm and happy mostly you see it as a symbol of hope and light, but if you stay out too long it burns you, if you stare at it for too long it could make you go blind...

Flame fox spirit! She was born when a burning leaf touched water in the hot season of summer. She can change from human to fox. She lives in the rays of the sun and runs through the flames of a burning forest. She is the burning desire for love and hides when it begins to rain. She is wild and free like an animal and has fallen in love with the night were her flames glow the brightest.

Illumenia: Herald of the Storm

Background Story:

Older sister to Iris, Illumenia was originally destined to be the messenger of the gods. As such, she was expected to obey without hesitation, happily carrying out the will of her masters. While most would consider this to be a great honor, Illumenia always felt trapped by her responsibility.

Iris always told Illumenia that fooling around on earth was unbefitting of a servant of the gods; as far as Iris was concerned, the creatures of Sylestia were pretty to look at, but held little importance in the grand scheme of things. Undeterred by her sisters attitude towards non-heavenly beings, Illumenia loved to spend her days flying over earth. She developed an especially close relationship to the mystical nephinis, and their faerie companions, one of which was named Jinxie.

Her favorite season was Spring, and she was always jealous of Celeste, the goddess of Spring for being allowed to grace Sylestia with her presence. Everywhere Celeste walked, flowers and vegetation would blossom around, and light would shine, breathing life back into the land.

Unlike Celeste, Illumenia could not walk the earth, and was only able to fly high above the ground. Her wings gave her incredible speed, which were given to her by her father, Cronos. Her mother, Rhea, fitted her with fine cloth made from the silk of heavenly Lunemaras and adorned her with the gems of the Faeries. Her fine white-gold hair was a tribute to her purity and innocence.

For many centuries, the land of Slyestia flourished, and the people prospered. Such harmony was not to last, as the people grew greedy, and desired more than what Cronos was willing to give. One day, a group of bandits and necromancers attempted to storm the heavenly palace and overthrow Cronos. They came armed with relics, swords, and a fleet of fierce Ryoris, but they were swiftly defeated by Rhea and her army of Nyvenes and fiercely loyal sprites.

Cronos was inconsolable, that someone dared to try and take his throne. As punishment, he ordered Celeste to leave Sylestia for a 100 years to teach those who would dare rise against him a lesson. Celeste's absence brought a season that most had long ago forgotten: summer.

The earth became cracked and the once green forests became burnt under the suns harsh gaze. With Celeste no longer on earth, the ground no longer retained water, and her magic touch withered away, and the soil became barren. Lakes dried up, oceans stilled, and many creatures went in to hiding to avoid the heat.

Unable to bear witness to the suffering of the people and animals of Sylestia, she begged her father to put an end to the suffering. Refusing to do so, Cronos instead chose to make the sun shine even brighter. Horrified at what her father had done, Illumenia begged Rhea to help her. Rhea gave her daughter a vial of sacred water from the fountain of life. She sprinkled it on her daughters wings, and told her to fly as close to the sun as she could, and to offer the water to the sun god Helios to lessen the heat, and then to fly to the darkest clouds and find Euros, god of wind and rain and offer the water in return for rainfall and shade.

Unbeknownst to Illumenia, her sister Iris had overheard the conversation and told her father everything. What remained of his sympathy and lenience towards Illumenia vanished, and in his dissapointment, he banished her from the palace, stripping her of her heavenly powers, and leaving her alone and defenseless.

Her hair was stripped of its godly glow, and became dark and dull. Her wings were tainted with lightning that ensured she would never be able to use the powers once bestowed upon her by the gods. Her only hope was to go to Helios and Euros to beg for their help.

Thankfully, she still had the sacred water her mother gave her. In return for the water, Helios gave her new wings that were enchanted with the sacred water, and the power to calm the sun. Euros in turn gave her a magical jewel that would enable her to summon the clouds and create both wind and rain.

Armed with her new powers, Illumenia was determined to right the wrongs of her father. All seemed well for a while, and for a brief moment, Sylestia once again was blessed with rainfall and shade. Angered by her impudence, Cronos strengthened her powers without telling her, and so powerful were her wings that a single shake brought destruction upon the land she gave up her position in the palace for. In her enthusiasm to help, she often accidentally hurt them with her powers.

Horrified and grief stricken at the damage and flooding she caused, she banished herself to the sky, and slowly started to regain her control over her powers. Eventually, she was able to mostly control them, but refused to fly too close to earth lest the Gods decide to punish her again.

After many years, she was able to finally make peace with her father with the help of Rhea. Illumenia refused to abandon Sylestia, and convinced her father to let her temporarily restore balance to the earth. In return, Cronos got to inflict burning hot summers on the land for a short while, then allowed his daughter to bring about a new season now known as Fall.

She now remains hidden in the Sky, using her giant wings as a cover, and gives off the appearance of billowing clouds. Illumenia cools down Sylestia as best she can during the hot summer months, and with a single blink of an eye can summon ferocious ocean storms to help cool the land. She never intentionally hurts anyone, but sometimes her powers get the best of her and she makes stormes too strong, but she is getting better She is both feared, and revered.

To this day, her powers are still felt by those down on earth in the form of storms and a blissful (and in some case destructive) reprieve from the heat.

This is Shade of the Sombranic kingdom. She was forced to leave her kingdom after being told a secret about her queen that she couldn't, no, wouldn't, keep. Shade fled to the Aravena kingdom, Kingdom of Light and Warmth, where she was resented by many, but content. There, she met her soulmate. She and Sol had a child who they named Twilight.

(I made up the word Sombranic using the Spanish word "Sombra" meaning "Shadow". Aravena I randomly made up because why not?)
