Not until recently did I have enough money to buy space, but I do love collecting themes! Even though I may only be able to keep one of each.. [excluding the Iced Mocha Sylvorpas, a favorite]

I'll tell you all I can!

So typically you can find themes in the Lost Grove [a more recent addition] their really rare to find there '^-^
Otherwise you can get them by exploring Festival Zones! [this doesn't make them any less rare though unfortunately...] [how to 'make your own I'll explain] Each year there are four festivals. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Before each festival the site owner sets up a design contest for the players, and he chooses from various designs submitted and decides which he wants to have for the festival.

Unfortunately the winter one is closed already, but no worries theres always spring!

Out of all the themes he chooses, some can be found in the fest zone, others 'made'. Every fest has some sort of building system where you can make a specific themed sylesti with the right materials. I won't go into too much detail about that particular subject, there are many more people who could guide you through that better.

I believe he holds onto a theme for two festivals. For example say the 'Fudge Sylvorpa' [totally just made this up] is avaliable for catching or making this winter fest, you will have the chance to catch/make it again next year, but not the very next. Does that make sense? We get new themes each fest, and they're only kept for two whole fests. There are some special exceptions to this, but once again I won't go into detail.

When you catch, or find a themed egg in the wild, they are typically one vis [one visable trait] or two carry. Sometime you can get lucky and find a 3 or even 4 visible themed pet though!
^ But since thats rare, people usually just breed themed pets together for more traits, a lot of peopoe even have breeding projects going to get 6 visable themes!

^So, when you catch a themed pet, another name they have is "tagged" this means they have that special lable on there profile that says "Fudge Sylvorpa" if its first generation, meaning you just caught/found it and it has no parents, the star will be yellow. Purebreds happen when you breed two of the same theme together, they have a blue star. You can't breed a "Fudge Sylvorpa" and "Candy Cane Sylvorpa" together though and get a purebred tagged pet. It has to be of the same theme.

This is all I can think to say right now, if some of this didn't mae sense feel free to ask me about it some more. All in all, a themed pets is a pet with a special color palate and sometimes special, restricted, traits. There pretty rare to find overall, but like another person pointed out, you can have 200 of one theme and 20 of another. If you've figured Advanced Search out, try looking for 'Cave fungus' sylvorpa[excluding purebred]. You'll see what I mean.

So I guess simply put, there almost like limited edition collectibles.

Wow! That explains a lot, I was wondering how people got so many traits!

Thank you, I think I get it now! So basicly, you hunt for the pets with the traits you want, breed them together if they are the same type, and hope for them to show, then try again till you have all of them in one pet.

So if I wanted your "Fudge" I'd try to catch as many with different parts and keep breeding them together till all are showing in one pet.

Thank you!

Yeah! Its a pretty long and difficult process, an usually costly too. So if you see people selling many vis purebreds for more than what a original tagged pet might cost thats usually why. However not everybody makes a project out of themes, sometimes they can look beautiful with just one or two traits and full vis just clutters it ^-^
