I wish you the best of luck, but I do have a question. What does it do? Does it make the site faster for players, make it easier to fix bugs, etc. Just curious ^^

That is a great question.

We are pretty significantly upgrading our CPUs. The CPU is the main component of the server that handles all of the computations. So every time you end a turn in battle, the CPU is the hardware running all the calculations on what happens with attacks, number calculations, etc. Or whenever an image of a pet is being compiled, etc. When hundreds of players are playing simultaneously, these types of processes add up. So a stronger CPU will allow for quicker calculations and thus allow for it to eventually handle more simultaneous calculations.

We are also majorly upgrading our disk drives from four SSDs to two m2 NVMe's. This means that our server's ability to write and read data will be tremendously improved. So every time the server is handling a query to the database to read or update data, this time should be improved. This should allow for faster speeds anytime data is being updated or retrieved - which is basically anything players do anywhere on the site.

We are also updating our RAM. This will allow the server to store and utilize resources in its virtual memory more efficiently and more robustly. Again - overall, should improve performance.

We are also getting a package with a much higher amount of monthly allowable bandwidth. While it has never been an issue, this just means that the site can continue to grow with no concerns of hitting our bandwidth caps - which would incur monthly fees if we go over our pre-paid for cap.

In regards to software, all of the server's main software will be updated to more recent versions. This helps to insure that our server remains secure from various non stop security threats as the older software you use, the more vulnerabilities it will have. It should also bring about performance boosts as, generally, newer versions of software will run more efficiently than out dated ones.

Utilizing newer software will also make it easier for us to maintain the server in day to day operations.

So, overall, we should see some noticeable performance increases to basically everything on the server. I can't promise anything because it's just an impossible thing to guess, but I would expect basically everything should run a bit faster, more reliably, and set us up better for growing into the future.

Same. I'll be sleeping and then off to work, so I won't be able to get on until around this time Tuesday morning. Lol

Also, best of luck to Krin and the team! With all the new updates coming with the transfer, I bet it's going to wind up being even more amazing than Sylestia already is!
