Downtime Begins: Monday, November 8th @ 10 AM
Estimated Duration: 6-12 Hours

Hello, all. We will be having major downtime tomorrow in order to migrate to a brand new server. After much consideration, we have decided to switch hosting providers. We are very excited to begin a new chapter with our new providers. Not only will our server be getting massive upgrades all across the board, but we actually will even be saving money on our costs throughout the year. So it is truly a win/win.

During a migration, I have to put the site offline so that data is not lost. During the migration process, our data is copied from our current server to our new. If the site were live during this time, anything a player does from when the migration began until when we switched our DNS over would be lost. Obviously, this is not an option so we have no choice but to take the site offline for the duration of the migration.

Additionally, once the migration is complete, we will have to spend quite a bit of time calibrating and updating the new server to the appropriate configurations. We will be updating to a new operating system and newer versions of software across the board so there are bound to be some complications that will arise and have to be ironed out. There really is no way of knowing how long this step will take. It could be just a couple hours or many hours depending on whatever issues arise.

All in all, this will be quite a lengthy process that is hard for me to really gauge exactly how long it will take. There are lots of variables beyond my influence and just a lot of unknowns as we go from one environment to a new one. Therefore, I am just putting the estimated downtime at 6-12 hours. I would hope that the site is back up sometime Monday night, but you just never know.

During this process, don't worry, we have (and will have) numerous back ups of our data. The data will remain untouched on the original server. We will have our data backed up in our existing backup plan. And I will have a copy of the data on my personal device and business Dropbox. So, many fail safes on the data. =P

I will try and keep things updated on Twitter as the process goes about. You can follow (or just check it from time to time) via this link.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience. But I think we will all be happy with the result after everything is nice and settled! =)

Since the site will be down will there be extra time for the fest? (I was gone on vacation for awhile I'm still playing catch up, so if I missed that info on the fest ...sorry.)

Assuming we will only experience 6-12 hours of downtime tomorrow, I wouldn't plan on extending the Festival due to that. There are still 4 weeks of the Fall Festival to go.

I remember, many years ago when Gaia did this, I'll check back on Tuesday. The worst bit were the post move bugs.

Whoops...I'm sorry. I was assuming the Fest started while I was gone. Thanks Erin. :)

Hm, what about our brews? Might not be able to get a 2/2 bonus if the site is offline for too long...

Odd choice to do this in the middle of a festival.
