Prism blinked twice when he stopped.
" Um, well okay. " She said, gingerly sitting down.
" It might not be very good, I haven't played in four years. " She said hesitantly, flipping through her songbook, before stopping at one. It was the one she liked the most. She placed her fingers on the keys, and started to play a gentle, pretty tune.

A few moments later, it seemed to start to get darker, and filled with more emotion. She closed her eyes as she kept playing, taking in the memory of why she wrote it, as she hummed the lyrics quietly. Her fingers fumbled slightly at times, but she quickly reminded her fingers of the notes.

Anubis smiled at the tune she was playing, silently standing behind her and following along the notes as she played. "A beautiful tune. Who is this by?" He morphed into his jackal form and lay on the floor outstretched, his ears flicking in rhythm to the music, trying to forget the thoughts that had popped into his head from earlier.

" Oh, I wrote it myself. " She smiled after the finished note. She smiled when he was in his jackal form, it was funny to see him like that.
" You're not bad yourself. " She gave a grin, flicking her tail back and fourth. She remembered when he stopped abruptly, she decided to shake it off, maybe he wasn't in the mood to play anymore.

"You are a very talented composer, then." The jackal tilted his head and stared at her through fierce canine eyes. "And, of course, you are not bad at playing either. Lots of emotion in the piece, I take it. You are still young, so allow me to make some assumptions. You have felt different and detached from others before, no? Perhaps that is what makes your song so beautiful."

Prism showed a flicker of sadness in her eyes, before looking back at her paper.
" Yeah. You could say that... " She turned back to him with a small smile.
" That's really kind of you to say that, thank you. " She replied. She hadn't really had anyone look that deep into her piece before, she thought she had kept that part of it hidden pretty well.

Anubis tilted his head again. "It is wonderful. Let us see what I can get out of your piece. You have been a little nervous in social situations, new ones, especially. Do you not feel a sense of need for approval or recognition? It is normal, but I also believe you have a tendency to feel critical towards yourself at times, even if you do not really need to be so critical." He paused, and thought for a moment, lolling his tongue out. "Am I getting something right?"

Prism gave him a confused and surprised look. How could he see that in just one of her songs? She thought for a moment before saying something.
" How can you read it so easily? " She asked. Prism glanced at her paper again, as if she was looking for something that she might have missed.

"You have so much unused potential, my dear." Anubis got to his feet and morphed into his human form, setting a hand gently on her shoulder. "Is that really what you feel like? It is all exposed here, I can see it." He smiled gently. "There is so much one can glean from music. That is what makes music wonderful. The amount of emotions one can cram into a song, and pour it out. Let me try again for another point: You try to keep your composure, discipline, and self-control on the outside, but inside, you sometimes feel very desolated, worrisome, and insecure. Is that right, or am I getting something wrong?" He was intrigued by Prism as a person, and he wanted to know more, but he didn't know if directly asking would bring about a positive reaction.
