Curious about what tactics the snow wars masters out there use. Care to share some of your knowledge and expertise in the matter?

I only ever battle the AI but I always put my starting set up with the castle as high as the board will allow then put towers around it

Interesting tactic! I play exclusively against AI too ^-^
How does that work out for you? I imagine you'd have to put down two towers, you'd have one less slot for an attacker.

yeah I use 2 towers, and then the troops are always mixed to see what works but so far, a canon at the top and center plus 2 reindeer and a solider up front, so far I havent lost, but I also haven't played very much either

Hello there, I'm up to tier 6 this year ^^;
Protect your cannon(s) at all costs.
Prioritize taking out enemy cannons, then cavalry.
Never stand next to an enemy tower (unless it's like, nearing the end of the round and you want to get a shorter cooldown for your cannon (fewer pieces left = shorter cooldowns)).
In higher tiers in particular, putting a tower in front of your fort is useful, because the AI's cannons will come up to hit it (placing them in easy cavalry range), with the added benefit that any cannons that start on the front line cannot immediately get close enough to hit your fort.
Sometimes a cavalry will end up chasing your cannon around - if you can force it to land next to a different piece or your fort, that usually gets it to stop chasing.
