Fairly self explanatory; it's in the title. I figured increasing my likelihood of retreating would make me complete missions/tasks faster.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain none of the stats affect your chance of running, it's purely rng and I believe also determined by the difficulty of the enemy. You can't really run from Missions anyways, just cancel them if you decide you didn't want to do it.

Generally it's pretty easy to run from normal enemies anyways if you find your on the wrong side of bad fight, bosses are the only time I've had trouble with it.

I think there's some calculation involving your party's lowest quickness (calculated from both a pet's Dex and Agi stats) vs enemy mob's highest and a good dose of rng, but not sure about it.

That aside, assuming you mean Quests, rather than missions (which as Everlost mentioned you just... cancel), since Quests are region 1 and 2, I'm not even sure how effective running would be in doing those faster? I know you have to battle to progress main plot there, not sure if that affects finding the next Quest objective as well (read: not sure if you ran from everything you'd ever find the next objective point of a quest?)
That aside if you're doing quests and just take a lv60+ level team they can basically just bulldoze the entire enemy party in like, two moves anyway

Tasks obviously don't have a 'battles before next x' thing, so that's not an issue. Still, easy enough to just try to run upon encounter, then just finish the fight fast with higher level pets if you fail? And hey, fighting enemies in Astyl's Vale will actually net your pets some exp.

Thanks! And yeah I did mean quests, my brain must not be working today.

I figured running from enemies I don't want to fight in Astryl's Vale could save me some time when it came to completing tasks from Ethernia, so yeah.

It takes into consideration your lowest level pet, not the average. The thought is... your party can only go as fast as the weakest member. So if you have a low level pet, it will slow down the entire party.

There's probably a threshold (and I'm pretty sure there is) of where the chance of running away becomes 0 or 100% (depending on the level difference).

So if one of the pets is really low level, you will have a 0% chance to run away. At least, with how it's currently calculated.

Correct, it's based on the monster's level. So if you were in the festival zone fighting against lower level monsters, then lower level pets could have ran away.

Going by this, it depends on the lowest level member of your party vs. how high the enemy monsters are.
