I have a few questions about breeding, it's something I'm really interested in doing on here, and yes, I have read the guide pinned (if there is a newer, more updated one, please let me know and I will read it!)
To those who are more experienced breeders, what do you think is the easiest way to get 6vis? Even 4vis. I have a few ideas on it but I guess I want a clear answer by someone who has done it before.
Another question I have is about stats. Can they be bred? How would one go about breeding stats?
And a final question, do people go for 6vis and max stats? Or is it usually a one or the other type deal.
Thank you in advance~

i find it easier to start with carried traits instead of visible traits just to get as close as i can to 6 carried, but honestly a lot of it comes from patience. even if you're lucky it will still take months to get to a 6vis when you start from nothing.
stats on the other hand can be bred pretty easily, it just takes time and a lot of resources (especially if you dont have a stockpile of philters). you can read about how to stat breed here in this guide, it explains what the different philters are and the most efficient way to breed stats throughout several generations.
there is a pretty expansive market for 6vis max stat pets, but its shifting towards supermax projects (which you would need max stat pets to breed anyways).

Well, there is a balancing act of ease vs cost. The easiest project would be to have a bunch of enhanced essences, but those are costly. My first projects I focused strictly on traits and using advanced search used whatever pets I could find set up for public breeding. Then I dyed the final pair. I quickly learned that lesser pet dyes were terrible if you are picky about colors and greater dyes are expensive. Now I usually do projects with themed pets. That way the final pair look nice and I can always dye a second set a different color if I want to.
The things to keep in mind with projects:
- They take a long time. My 6vis projects can take up to a year or longer to complete.
- Carried traits are great! A two carry pet is better for a project than a 1 vis (assuming all the traits are what you want)
- Fabled pets are significantly more frustrating to start than non-fabled due to the longer cool down times for fabled females.
- null philters are wonderful for removing unwanted traits from offspring. I swear rng knows what traits you don't want and those always get passed on. Rip those buggers off asap.
- Set aside a specific space for your project and keep to it. Release pets with fewer traits. If you try and keep everything you'll very quickly get over run and overwhelmed. I usually do one tab of a stable, sometimes two. Some people do a whole stable. It really depends on what you are comfortable with. Personally, I would find a whole stable too overwhelming to keep track of and breed. And yet I have no issue with having 10 projects going at once. Brains are a funny thing. :-P
Stat projects are most efficiently done using prismatic philters and gender swaps. You can get stat boosts from nurturing, but most people who I've seen try just that route give up pretty quickly. It would just take way too long. I use nurturing as more of a supplement. It can take off a generation or two if you can manage to get it during fest nurturing boards. It's always best to breed for traits first and then boost stats.
Max stat projects are expensive, so I'm pretty choosy over which projects I'll do. The majority of my max stats happen to be from my 6vis projects.
Hopefully that wall of text answers your questions. I'm always happy to help with projects.

Thank you for the wall of advice, lol! Yeah dyes were already what I was thinking of, just breeding, getting whatever colors, then dyeing the traits of the baby I want. But I hadn't thought of using the pets others have set up for breeding.
As a follow up question, how would I boost the stats of my resulting baby? Thank you!

The base stats of the offspring are determined by the parents base stats. It looks at each one and takes something between the two. So, if mom has 23 strength and dad has 80, the offspring will have anything from 23 to 80. So you can potentially increase stats just by breeding to pets with higher base stats, but rng again can be quite mean.
Once the egg is made, the only way to increase base stats is to use a philter on it when it hatches (technically helping it hatch increases health, but not by enough to be of much use) and nurturing. Using a nurture boost during fests can significantly help increase stats. Once the hatchling becomes an adolescent, it's stats are set.
Fabled typically have higher base stats and pets made through the main fests growing feature (flower pots/sand sculpting/brewing/ice sculpting) can have additives put on them to increase their base stats.

ah I see, thank you! This is another question that is slightly unrelated, do people trade nurtures?

There is a nurture thread pinned in the general discussion forum and people will post a pet or two in chat for nurtures.

further on nurturing:
Aiming to get more people to nurture pets is the only way to really increase stats, since it's based on number of nurtures a pet receives. A single person literally cannot nurture a pet enough to get the nurture bonuses, with the 1 nurture per pet per day limit they have.
Nurtures to an eggling will speed up the growth (not affecting stats). Growth will skip forward one hour of growth time for every 6 (possibly 5? I'm sure the post on nurture updates says 6 but I've seen Krin say 5 elsewhere so I dunno. Doesn't really matter) nurtures the eggling receives.
Hatchlings get +1 to their maturity hours for every 4 correct nurtures, and +1 to their lowest stat for every 8 (discounting mana, which only gets boosted once all other stats are max)
(when an egg hatches the nurture buildup counter sets itself back to 0, though the number of nurtures counter stays the same. So if it had, say, 3 nurtures when it hatched, the hatchling will not take one more nurture to get the timer boost, but instead needs 4 new nurtures)
Nurture Boost makes it so the pet appears at the front of nurture lists in the nurturing grounds, meaning it's more likely people will nurture it (it does not affect anything else)
