You seem to have one on your pet but in case it's needed:
> go to inventory, swap to equipment
> choose pet using the dropdowns
> select item to equip, click the relevant equip box below the pet's image (Relic, armor, accessory, accessory, costume/companion)
> Aim to have equipment that matches the pet element and battle position.
> Both equip level and rarity affect the stats of the equip
(I'd offer you some more gear but unfortunately I don't have any lv15 or under gear I *can* send, and there's nothing in the broker at the moment either. There was one lv20 assassin relic that we've grabbed and sent, which will be good for Juniper in a few levels, but no sub-25 gear really aside from that for her or Ray. If you like you can tell us when one of them reaches lv25 and we can open some mission satchels to see if we get any assassin gear for Juniper or Evoker or Illusionist for Ray?)

Thank you so much!
I will definitly let you know when one of them reaches 25.
Do you have any advice on how to switch the relics? Like, the one on Juniper isnt as good as one I have now in my inventory.

So long as you aren't in a battle or have the pet on a mission, you should be able to switch out the relics and any other gear pieces you have on your pets.
You can click the new relic you want to use from your inventory, then press the one that's currently on your pet, and they should switch out, with the new one being placed on the pet, and the other being placed back into your equipment inventory.

Oh, no need to feel silly, we were all new to the game once and had some trouble understanding the mechanics and had to learn, it's perfectly normal to be a bit confused at first. And you're welcome, I'm glad I could help. (^-^)

With equipment, it is a weighing of stats.
Obviously if you get an equip that has better stats on every count you generally want to go with that, but different elements and party positions lean towards wanting different stats
In Juniper's case, she's an Earth pet- Earth is a Physical element that's designed for Tanking (being in slot 1 and taking the brunt of the damage, protecting its teammates)
Physical elements- Water, Earth, and Air- use the Strength and Physical Damage stats. They don't use the Intelligence (aside from a lil magic defence) or Magical Damage stats
Magical elements- Shadow, Light, and Fire- use Intelligence and Magical damage, and don't make use of the Strength (aside from a lil phys defence) or Physical Damage stats
This is especially relevant with Relics, which have a Damage Bonus stat- Currently you have an Evoker relic on Juniper, which is one of the Magic/Int type equips, so it's giving her a +65 on her Magical Damage stat, which she cannot use.
Tanks- typically Earth, Shadow, or Water, sometimes Light- lean towards Agility, which boosts Evasion and Defence
Attackers- Fire and Air- want Dexterity, which boosts Accuracy and Critical Hit Rate
Healers (light) and Buffers (water) can go either way, on player need and preference.
(both Dex and Agi control a pet's speed in battle. 30dex+10agi gives a pet the same speed as 20dex+20agi or 10dex+30agi)
The main kinds of equip for sub-60s are:
Assassin: oriented to Strength and Agility. Good for Earth and Water Tanks, can be used for Water Buffers
Illusionist: Intelligence and Agility. Good for Shadow and Light Tanks, can be used for Light Healers
Myrmidon: Strength and Dexterity. Good for Air Attackers, can be used with Water Buffers.
Evoker: Intelligence and Dexterity. Good for Fire Attackers and Light Healers
(Disciple is kinda a placeholder equip, Ravager is uh, maybe good for Strength mission pets, Arcanist for Intelligence mission pets?)
Gear rarity and level both affect the stats on a piece of gear. Uncommon gear is uh. bad at basically any level, very low level curve increase (to the point that like, a lv65 uncommon is worse than lv25 legendary), and you generally want to replace it asap.
