Hi all I obtained a hatchling from one of the questing areas during my viridian meadows explorations.
I removed it from my hatchery and can't use it in my party. I assume it is because it needs to be an adult, but I cannot put it back into the hatchery. Is there any other way to raise it to adult??

Pets age regardless of being in the hatchery, at the steady rate of one hour per hour, and they can also still be nurtured, both via the pet page and via the nurturing grounds.
The only difference being in the stables makes is that the pet can be publicly sold when in the stables but not when in the hatchery (they can still be privately sold from the hatchery, it's specifically public selling that cannot be done.)
A pet has to be either Adolescent or Adult to be put into the party, not strictly adult.

Oh ok , so I just click on the hatchling in the stable as I would in the hatchery to nurture it?

Hi, I saw this question and wanted to answer.

I just tested it, to make sure I would be able to give proper information, and even if a pet isn't in your hatchery, it will still show up on your Nurturing Grounds page. You can access your Nurturing Grounds through either the Explore tab or through your Hatchery.
In your Hatchery, there's an icon that looks like next to what would say Ravanella's Hatchery in the top right, which should take you to your own Nurturing Grounds page and automatically load the pets you have that haven't yet been nurtured by you that day.
Even if one of your pets is placed in your stables, it'll still be able to be nurtured through the Nurturing Grounds.

yes, you can either go to the pet's page and nurture by clicking their image OR you go to your own nurturing grounds and the pet will show up there with any other egglings/hatchlings you have per usual
