This is my first festival. I've been adding as much vampire dust as I can to every brew that I make (i.e. for lesser blood it said they'd have 1 hidden and greater blood they'd have two). But when I got the pets genetically tested, no carried traits showed up whatsoever. Only the visible traits I got from the blood were showing in the traits list. I was wondering if this was normal?

I also checked the first pet brewed and it has a carried trait but mine don't?

Vampire Dust is for hidden traits, not carried traits :D I checked some of your hatchery and they all have a hidden trait (which is indicated by the purple font) which means when breeding, they might pass on the other gene, not the ones that are showing.

The confusion here is Carried traits vs Hidden traits

Vampire Dust gives a pet a guaranteed Hidden trait under the Visible trait- so the pet still has the amount of TP the blood they have allows for, but they have genetics for two different traits in that slot that they can pass on.

In the case of your sylvorpa for instance, she has Visible (C) Pollen Markings, with Hidden (G) Lotus Lights under it. She can pass on either, but the traits are in the same slot; only the dominant one shows.

Meanwhile, in the case of Amtiel's faelora, she has a Carry that brings her up to 5tp because Amtiel got the second Brewing Bonus for keeping the brew's Quality up (for non-majestic species, first bonus is a stat boost, the second is a bonus 1tp (a random carried trait)
(you can read more about how this works in the Sylesti Brewing section of the Overview, starting with "There are also Quality and Bonus measurements")
