When I was breeding a pet with 2 visible traits and a pet with 0 visible or carried traits, is the result meant to be a pet with no traits?

it depends on the actual traits of the parents- in that, as neither parent is genetically tested, I, from the outside, have no idea if there are carried traits (as I don't know what rarities they were) (other players offer free gene testing services in the Groups, Guilds, Clubs, and Services subforum! You cannot see Carried or Hidden traits in a pet's genetics unless a pet has been Tested.)

If the mother either has no Carried traits (white star/common rarity), or has carried trait(s) only in slots other than G3 or M1, then (on the assumption that the father is the Tutorial Catch, he's an epic, so G3 and M1 are the only trait slots he has (whether he has Hidden traits in those slots is irrelevant here)) then the offspring can only be no-vis, though they have guaranteed carried in G3 and M1 at the least (from their father) and if their mother has any carries, a 50/50 chance they inherited either the carry or nothing in the slot(s).

If the mother has a carry in one or both of the G3 or M1 slots, then offspring could either have a vis or a carry in the slot.

you can check out our guide post on trait inheritance here (post 10- it's the one the link goes to, but there are images further up the thread so it could end up in the wrong place as those load)

In short:
Babies of the pair are guaranteed to have carries in G3 and M1 from their father, but are not genetically tested, so you can't see those.
Unknown if mother has any carries she could have passed on in a different slot, as she also isn't tested. If she has a carry in one or both of G3 or M1, then she rolled the 50% chance to pass on N (nothing) rather than the trait genetcis every time.
