I just created my account today and would like some guidance with picking from the lot of starter pets available right now.

When I checked older forum posts, they mentioned different starter pets than what I have to choose from. So Im also wondering if they rotate out and new ones take their place as new starter pets periodically every month, few months, or year?

The 6 Starter Pets I can choose from:
Aurleon
Draeyl
Qitari
Sylvorpa
Vulnyx
Zolnixi

Which should I pick?
I was considering between Draeyl and Sylvorpa. Main reason why I said Sylvopra was because I obvious saw that its a reference to or took inspiration from Vaporeon. But, if any of the others 4 are as good as those 2, then list the cons and pros of the 6 please.

Not trying to be rude to the artist that made it by assuming Sylvopra being likened to Vaporeon.

as far as i'm aware the list of starter pets hasn't really changed.

i definitely think you should choose whichever you like the most! your starter pet will be different from every other pet you can get on the site, as each player is only given the one starter, however you can get any number of pets afterwards (provided you have the space).

if you're concerned about stats, the Generator page has a tab labeled "View List Of Species," you can view the base stats of the different starter pets (and other pets available on the site). don't be too worried about the stats: you can and will find pets with better stats throughout the site, and you are not limited to just the one pet.
generally though, there is no pros or cons for which one you pick - just go with what you like. :D

Sylvorpas are just funny lil axolotly guys, really, but frankly, go with the species you like the best. Look through all the genes and mutations of species you like the looks of. Spend a while poking the colours and traits until you have something that makes your brain go "yes. yes. yeees" or something.

As a starter you have free reign with the colours, and you have 4tp to use (that's two visible traits, one vis + two carries, or four carries. Since it's your starter I'd suggest 2v, since carries will only be useful if you plan to breed to try to get those traits visible on offspring/descendants)

Don't let starter base stats really take up too much thought. Proficiency points and equips will be making up a good chunk of their overall active stats once you really get going.
Base stats don't really make too much difference until very late game (lv60+) (and even then it's the base HP stat that makes the biggest difference because of how the stat's level bonus curve works) and by then you'll have a lot more options for party pets if you want to swap
