Hello! New here and was wondering how to breed? I have a male and a female but when I go to the breeding tab my male doesn't show up? It doesn't matter what I put. Its the one I made when I started my account.
I am also having trouble acquiring pets? I used two traps to get 2 but now I'm not sure how to get more!
Any advice is appreciate. I do have low reading comprehension though.

pets cannot breed unless they are adults (648 maturity hours (mh), which are not the same thing as hours a pet has existed)- starter sylesti come into existence with their age set to the start of adolescence (216mh)
it takes 18 days (432 hours) for a sylesti to go from the start of adolescence to adulthood (648-216=432)
on untested pets it will just tell you their life stage in their maturity section, but in genetically tested pets and pets made via the generator (including starters) it shows the exact mh age
at this moment, this is Scarlant's:
he's existed for 9 hours so he's now 225mh old, and has 423 hours until he's adult
An adolescent's mh can be skipped ahead 144mh via the magical pie item
you can read more about sylesti aging here
there are also sections on pet traps (post 9), pet star colours and numbers and what they mean (post 3), and sylesti genetics/inheritance (posts 10 and 4. this guide has needed to be properly cleaned and tidied since I first made it and I have never gotten to it so uh...)
I will say, since you're new you may not want to go catching random pets unless they really, really visually appeal to you- you have limited space and gold to work with at the start of your sylestia journey, and most wild pets have no monetary value to make up for the trap cost.
Currently the only place you will be able to get greater (blue) and strong (purple) traps with your current game progression is from the spring festival zone (from the sales-fairy just inside the zone, and possibly as the daily task prize for encountering a theme), which is set to close after today.
Looking at your current pets, would you also like help with party setup? Different elements have different skills in battle that make them more or less effective at certain 'jobs', and make certain equips better or worse for them

Yes! I would appreciate help! Thank you so much for the above information, it really helped a lot! I always have trouble with this sort of thing when I'm first trying out a new game lol

okay, so
1. Elements are broken in to two groups, Physical and Magical
Physical elements are Earth, Water, and Air. They use the Physical Damage Stat, which is controlled by Strength,
Magical elements are Shadow, Light, and Fire. They use the Magical Damage Stat, which is controlled by Intelligence.
2. The typical team setup (once you reach sanctuary of saerielle and can buy your third party slot) is Tank/Healer(or buffer)/Attacker. This is not the only viable setup, but it is the most common and an easy one to use
Tanks go in slot 1, which is where enemies preferentially aim.
Tank elements are Earth, Water, Shadow, and Light
Tanks focus on HP, Agility, and offence (str or int, depending on the element)
Healer/Buffer elements are Light and Water (although water doesn't really grow into being a Buffer until higher levels when it has access to more of its moves)
They tend to focus on Offence, with dexterity or agility focus assigned by player preference
Attacker elements are Fire and Air.
They focus on Offence and Dexterity
Dexterity controls critical hit rate and accuracy, and shares control of speed equally with agility.
Agility controls defence and evasion, and shares speed with dex.
(remember to assign your proficiency points when you get them!)
3. Different equipment goes better with different elements, based on which stats those equips boost
Both equip level and equip rarity affect equip stats
At sub-60 levels, the four main types are:
Assassin = Str/Agi = Earth tank, Water tanks, Water buffers
(Disciple is more a placeholder, decent but not focused. Ravager and Arcanist are fully Str and fully Int focused respectively, and are best only used for Strength and Intelligence mission pets)
at lv60+ pets can use Lost Grove equipment, which has different type variation, and are primarily assigned:
Warden = Agi/Str = Earth tank, Water tanks
Tidal Lord = Str/Agi = Water tanks, Earth tank, Water buffers
Storm Caller = Str/Dex = Air attackers, Water buffers
