Not sure how long I will be here...
as subject header states - coming back after a long time away...
Could someone please remind me how to play,
especially how to get new pets... (other than breeding my current ones).

Welcome back! What Luna said, but you could also tame wild ones with traps you buy from the shops in the cities!

I feel that, I came back about a year ago after a break of 10 years! If you're super lost it may be worth checking out all the beginner guides in the Player Guide forum, or guides about anything in particular that you don't remember anymore :3
