Also, I don't seem to have a starter pet... am I meant to ?

You can buy the traps in all cities, with the later cities having better traps available.

Your starter pet is here! You can search for starter pets in AS (Advanced Search, located under Social) and then enter your name also, that is how I was able to find yours!

You can put all questions in the Q&A part of the forum :) Your questions may also have already been answered in the Player Guides, which may be faster than waiting for an answer. I recommend the beginner's guide by Bunne if you are still struggling to get back into the gist of things!
