This month's recap is very special and extra long - because we'll be including everything about both March and February!

February's main claim was the Week of Love festival. Including a Wheel with new exclusive tagged pets, a new species, a small zone to explore, and lots of new avatar items, the WoL certainly didn't disappoint!

The newest species is the Luffox, the fluffiest species yet!

Unlike the new species released during the seasonal events, the Luffox is not a fabled pet, so it can be caught year-round in all the zones.

The Puffadore also received a new gene during the month of February, Striped Skunk.

Beyond the WoL and the new gene, February was a fairly calm month, unlike March!

This month's avatar items are undeniably awesome! The Battlemage sets are fantastic, and only available for the rest of the day today!

The site's festival addicts were satisfied this month by the four day Festivities of Fortune weekend. Celebrating Saint Patrick's Day, there was no new species, but we did get a new avatar item set and a whole slew of new genes, the Lucky Runes!

Beyond the new gene for all the pets during for the mini-fest, Quitaris and Ryoris also each received a new mutation.

Warhorse Armor (Petal, Striped, and Flower) for the Quitaris

and the Jester's Crest for Ryori!

Perhaps the most exciting part of the month (for some, anyway!) was Krin's update of the list of features that will be added sooner or later. The amount of features that he would like to have added or revamped within three months is astounding and incredibly exciting. From myself and from the whole site, Krin and Fai, thank you for everything you do for us! We appreciate all the hard work you're putting in to make the site better for all of us.

Starfall: Soooo when did you and fai meet in person for the first time?

Krinadon: We first met in Everquest - the simple answer.

Starfall: ...ovo ohk

Krinadon: The long answer, until we met we both played on the Bristlebane server, but in separate guilds. We had no idea either existed until my guild, Ring of Valor, decided to merge with her guild, Test of Time. I was actually very angry with my guild and even though I had been a very dedicated member for 1-2 years, I wasn't given any type of leadership role in the new "merged" guild. So I left and actually transferred to another server to play with another guild.

Starfall: ovo -nodnod- ooh

Krinadon: On the Ring of Valor forums, there was a real life picture thread where I had posted a picture of me from a cousin's wedding. Supposedly Fai liked my picture and asked someone from Ring of Valor who I was. She ended up asking someone whom I still talked to and told her how to find me. Then one night, on February 17th in 2005, I received a message from a certain Faiona that said, "marry me".

Starfall: Oooooh *v*

Krinadon: We didn't actually meet in person until September of that year when I first went off to college. We used our own money to buy me plane tickets for a weekend visit.

User Spotlight

Selestial: What gave you the idea for Second Chances, and why did you decide to start it?

Visenkha: I was inspired by another Sylestia user, Dragondawn, to create the thread after joining her efforts to help restore fabled pets back to their original luster and rarity. So I decided why not do something to help improve the value of non-fabled pets. I wanted to make a place were users who had a surplus of pets could donate them to new users so that they could start their own breeding projects. That way those unwanted pets got a home and new users got some good breeding stock.

Selestial: What has been the biggest challenge in running Second Chances?

Visenkha: Getting the word out to new users seems to be the biggest problem that I have encountered. I try to send a private message out to people who have recently created an account on Sylestia and that brings in a good amount of people but there are still way more pets looking for homes than there are users who are willing to take them.

Selestial: What about the easiest aspect?

Visenkha: Easiest aspect would probably be that there is no shortage of pets. There are plenty of wonderful donors and it always nice to see a pet go off to a new home.

Selestial: Do you plan on continuing to run it for the foreseeable future?

Visenkha: I definitely plan to keep the thread up and running. Many pets have found new owners and it helps breeders make space for new projects and gives new users some great pets that they may not have been able to afford when they are just starting out. There will always be a surplus of pets so I don't see the project going away anytime soon.

Selestial: Last, but not least, do you enjoy managing it?

Visenkha: I do enjoy running things. This is such a great site and it's always a good feeling to know that you're doing something that can benefit so many people. I've had many users tell me that they love their new pets. Some users who received pets have even come back and donated pets to others. It's just awesome to see things come full circle like that.

Newbie Spotlight

Selestial: How did you find out about Sylestia?
Vapor: I was brought here by a friend who I met on another pet site Smile Her name is Shiori22! One of the greatest people I've ever met online!

Selestial: What made you want to join?
Vapor: The amazing artwork is what drove me to even try Sylestia. Now, that's being upfront and totally honest. When I consider joining a pet site the art is really what sells.. well.. at first that is. To me, art is very telling. It tells me whether or not the site will be lasting or if it will fail. If there isn't much effort put into art, then there won't be much effort put into anything else.

Selestial: What were your first impressions?
Vapor: Well, let us first talk about the quests/battling. When I got my first pet and started up the quests, I was hooked. What separates Sylestia from so many other pet sites I've tried is the fact that you can battle 24/7. There is no waiting on 'energy' to accumulate. There's no waiting on a pet 'cool down' to gain levels and stats. There is ALWAYS something to do and even after all of this time I still have things to do; whereas, on another pet site I would be bored to pieces by now. As long as you have the items/cash to sustain your pets, you're good as gold to go from 1-60 in just a few days. Now let us discuss the thought and effort put into the system as a whole. I was quite impressed with the balance of the different gear-to-stat ratios and just the gear in general. That alone is very impressive and shows that the owners/creators of Sylestia really do strive to make this one of the best pet sites I have EVER seen, and trust me when I say that I am a member of many.

Selestial: Do you like the community on Sylestia?
Vapor: I have to say that I haven't really been active in the forums too much and have only been in the chat room a few times. During my time in the chat room I was always welcomed and greeted with sincere kindness. All of my questions are always answered and I do feel that, to this community, no question is too stupid to ask. This is not only the best pet site I've ever seen, it is also home to one of the most kind and accepting communities I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of. I will use this time to thank two very special people who have helped me more than I have ever hoped and that is Meanbee and Hundenelsker. If it weren't for these two beautiful people, it would have taken me a bit longer to get used to things. I appreciate them so much!

Selestial: Do you plan to keep playing for a while?
Vapor: Well, considering how I've already donated quite a few times, I'd say you guys are stuck with me for the long haul Wink I will add that it will be ALL my pleasure because Sylestia, as I've said before, is the best pet site I have EVER had the honor of being a part of. Even in its Beta stage, Sylestia is the place where ANY pet-siter would want to be. You can take that to the bank!

Hello, everyone! I'm back of course with your monthly pricing for the fabled pets... Nothing special this month, I'm afraid! Feel free to request a pet or certain tagged species or some such if there's something specific you'd like me to price out for you!

Griffi: For a lot longer than most Fabled pets do, Griffis managed to hang on to their higher pricing. That's starting to slip now, but it's still not nearly as bad as some of the others. There are a fair amount set for one gold, and four hundred gold is all you'll need for a 4carry. You starting finding 2vis around 6k-7k, however, and prices continue to jump rather than going up smoothly. 2vis2carry Griffis start cropping up for around 30k-35k. Another jump, 5carries can be found at around 125k.

Lighira: Despite being one of the oldest Fabled species, there are a significant fewer Lighiras for sale than the other Fableds. However, Lighiras with anywhere between 1 carry and 1vis3carry can be found for less than 250 gold. Being one of the oldest species, their depreciated value is only topped by that of the Ny'Vene. for 1k gold you can easily find one with 3vis and a mix of carries along with it, or even a 4vis. The only sure-fire way to sell your Lighira for a fair amount of money is if they have visible Mystic Wings.

Nephini: Though there are a few Nephs selling for extremely low prices, the price rises steeply and quickly, even if not to the extent it did a few months back, at least in comparison to the other Fabled species. A 5trait Neph can be found for 5k, but it's perhaps one of the most scattered species when it comes to prices, and goes through a cycle of few traits to many every 2k or so. What can be said about this fairly hard to price species is that as the price goes up, the cycles of traits grow longer.

Ny'Vene: One of the most popular pets on the site, this species starts off immediately with low prices and high traits. A 5carry or 2vis2carry can be bought for as little as 250 gold or less. For 350, a 2vis3carry or 3vis1carry. Like the Nephini, Ny'Vene prices are somewhat cyclic, though to a much lesser extent. For 3k, you can get a 4vis1carry. The same 4- and 5- traited pets make up the next range of price, and around 10k, 6-traited ones start popping up from anywhere with 1 to 3 visibles.

Ryori: Perhaps the Fabled with the highest base price, Ryoris, while the sell for almost nothing as every pet does, they are unlikely to be seen for sale with a visible trait for less than 1k. Before then is scattered with anything from no traits to 4 carries, however. 2vis with a smattering of carries start to pop up around 4k, and 3vis start to appear consistently around 3k. With a startling price jump, there are very few 4vis for sale for less than 110k, and none for sale with any higher number os visible traits. In this way, it can be said that Ryori are, currently, the most expensive Fabled species.

As I have been doing lately, I would like to add a disclaimer that these pets become harder to price due to the unbelievably high amount of themed offspring lurking around, such as BS Ryoris and AS Griffis. I try to disregard the prices of those when pricing regular ones, since they have a tendency to skew the price higher. ^^

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the poor excuse for a newspaper for the last two months! Let me just start by saying that I apologize, I am so so so sorry for how barren this is. I'm still getting my feet under me with all of this, and I swear next month's will be better, but it seems literally everything that could have gone wrong this month did! I starting posting this tonight with the belief I had three more articles to add than I ended up having... Hopefully two of them I will be able to add in within the next day! But this was already partway posted and I didn't want to wait any longer.

Again, I apologize, and I take full credit for everything that went wrong. I will do better next month!

And if anyone wants to join the team, I would welcome you! There's plenty to cover and more writers is never a bad thing, especially with everyone being so busy!

It looks great, Selestial! Thank you for doing this every month!

The only thing wrong, is that in your second post, when you tried to do a word link, you tried it with the old layout type, but you don't need the 'link' after 'url' anymore. ^-^
Just pointing that out.. ^-^

I never would have noticed that, thanks!. xD It wasn't hand-coded, I just used to addlink thing, but considering I formatted it in the PM system makes sense that for forums are using the new one so it wouldn't work. Duly noted for next time! I'll stop coding things in the PMs. x3
