Ok.
So, I can't beat him! I've tried like, seven times now and I'm not even close!
Any tips on how to beat him?

You might have to level up some more. You can explore other areas of the land to defeat more monster, or you can send your pet on missions at the Town Barracks in Esior's Haven.

I suggest a party of two at about lvl 20 and a good couple of potions, because we
never know~ XP

I had the same problem when I faced him... so I gave up to train a bit more but then It was time for bed so I put my pets into missions and the next day, after I picked them up from the mission and went back to try again readjusting party and all, I managed to defeat him kind of easily.

Make sure you have at least 2 pets that deals heavy damage. Those pets should be high in either Strength or Intelligence, though I would suggest maximizing Intelligence and go with the fire build in the proficiency since at the moment they are the build who can deal large damage to more than 1 enemy.
Your active pet (the pet that is in the middle when fighting) should have large Health, as far as I know the pets in the middle usually get attacked the most. Also, even if your pets' levels are 30-ish, there is still a good chance that Cereth could wipe out your party, so it's never a bad thing to stock up some elixirs and draughts.
When fighting him and his pets, try to focus the damage on 1 opponent first, I usually take out Cereth first because apparently he deals the most damage to my pets.

At least? Is it possible to have more than 2 pets during this fight? When I attempt to expand my party to 3 I am told that I have the max party size (2)...
