i've currently been trying for over an hour to get the Rare Speckled Mushroom for this quest and just keep finding the regular mushrooms :/
Could some people share the timeframe it took them to find the rare mushroom?

I got it before finishing the other quest stuff in that area, so I don't know, maybe a half hour or 45 minutes? Just keep searching. Maybe run from fights -- that helps speed up your chance of getting the right non-combat event.
