This is probably a silly question,but how do you unlock party slots?

There's no such thing as a silly question!
If you go to the Plaza in Esior's Haven, there's a trainer there that can expand your party limit (for a price, of course ). Currently you can only have 3 party slots, but more will be available in the future.
