What is the best proficiency set up for magical damage/healing?

In the future I might recommend the Battle Discussions forum! :)
In any case, if you want a pet who heals on every turn, you're going to need to use all your proficiency points on the Light tree, putting 7 of them into the Beam ability: 5 points in "Improved Beam," and 2 points for "Enhanced Beam."
Personally, I would spend the other 5 points in Intelligence to increase your pet's damage - since Beam heals 10% of damage dealt, it's not going to help very much if your pet doesn't hit very hard. For my healing pets (none of whom are max-stat, it should be said), I usually spend all or most of their level ups in intelligence too, to maximize the damage and therefore maximize the healing! Using orange or red gear compensates for their lower health, and with the healing bonus I never have to use mend or elixirs outside of boss fights!
Hope this helped! Feel free to ask me if you have any more questions! ^-^
Edit: you can take a look at Sarabi if you wanna see how my build looks and the gear I'm using.

Thanks, Rixva!
I wasn't sure if I should hit up the battle discussion or not, thinking about it now it would have made sense, sorry! ^^; I was thinking I wanted (if possible) a pretty level amount of hit/heal.
Like, I want to hit'em hard but I also want to heal both the healer and those in the party. I already have the level-ups pretty well sorted, like you said lots of it has gone to intelligence, but what hasn't gone there has been put into agility. It's the proficiency that was throwing me off because there are so many different areas to put points in I wasn't sure what a good healing/magical damage spec. was. I'll check Sarabi out for sure though, thank you for your time!

Don't worry about it!
Yeah, only the Light tree attacks can heal all three party pets! Of course, if you'd rather have a stronger attack and not heal every turn, you could put the proficiency points in Intel or the other stats and just use Fairy Lights (which costs 6 mana per turn used). There's really no wrong way to do it - you've just gotta find what works for you! It's fun to play around with once you get a feel for it ^-^
