Basically what the title says. I know where to buy traps for common/uncommon pets but where do I buy them for rare pets? Also what is the point of genetic tests/scanners, I know what they do but why do they matter? Thank you

Test kits: tell you all carried/hidden genes of a pet
Scanners: do the same thing as Test kits but for in battle
You can get traps for rare pets in Umbra Forest, in the Sanctuary of Saerielle

Scanners matter because they save you traps. If you come across a pet that you might want, because you like the coloring, you can scan it and see if it carries any genes. You might find a pet that has a gene you love, and it would be worth using more traps to catch if you did not catch it with the first trap. Or, you might find it has pretty coloring, but a gene that you don't like, and decide not to use any traps on it at all. So getting scanners is certainly worth it!

You can buy traps in each of the towns in the different areas. As you progress through the game each town will carry better traps. So like you said you found uncommon ones in esior's haven, when you go to the sanctuary in Umbra forest you'll get traps for rares, and then you can find traps for epics in the area after that. I imagine this is because pets get rarer the higher your level, so you don't need better traps until you get to the area they're available from.

As for tests and scanners. Both of them reveal all the genetic info on a pet. Scanners are used for pets you find in battle, testing kits are used for pets in your stables.

Edit: an additional note for scanners, not only do they tell you genetic info but they can be used to see an enemies battle stats (health. strength, int, etc) This isn't used so much early on, but when you get to the 3rd area they can be used to help you figure out what to do in arena.

Well you can buy all the traps (including epic) at ether is in Astros vale and the rare can be bought in serially I think.
Well the point of genetic tests is for breeding and genetic scanners are t see a pets stats and some people want to know them before capturing a pet.
