So I have a quick question. (PI is sorta my basis for breeding games like this one).
On PI their gene system worked so that each gene was progressively more recessive. Is that how it works on Sylestia or is it 50/50 odds that something will show up?
For instance: I have a Zolnixi who carries wings, and a Zolnixi who carries the spirit flames. Will their offspring always SHOW the wings and carry the flames for future generations, or will flames sometimes appear? I just don't know how the gene structure works.

Have you checked out these two threads?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, as I'm just now learning too, but perhaps these will help you out?

No but thank you Butterfly. I understand the way breeding works in these kinds of games (I love doing it) its more of a question of how it is set up on the back end, which I canh't really know unless I set it up or people have bred and found that offspring can have the two varrying results or if it is always one way.
Example, on PI the body slot of a pony had a few different options, paint, ldap, hdap etc. And that was the order Paint, Light dapples, Heavy dapples. So if you bred a pet with paint to a pet with Ldap all of the children would SHOW Paint and carry the light dapples (so if they bred with a light dapple in the future the kids had a 50/50 of showing light dapples or the paint depending on what gene gets taken) Conversely you also know that a pony that shows light dapples doesn't carry paint because it can't, the paint would override the light dapples.
It can be a bit confusing. (Especially when I'm not going into an indepth explanation)

I'm curious as to this also, if I am understanding what you are asking. My interpretation of this is that if you breed two sylestia together who both have a gene in the same slot (gene one, mutation one, etc) will both genes be in the genetics of the resulting pet.
Example being a Sylvorpa showing Dragonfly wings and a Sylvorpa showing Lionfish spikes breeding together. Will the children have a chance of holding both of them?
If this isn't your question, then I apologize for the misinterpretation, but it sounds similar to what you are asking. I would like the answer to this also :3

No you are not misunderstanding, this is precisely my question. I know both can't be revealed at the same TIME (So in your example the children would have EITHER lionfish OR the wings) but if one is dominant over the other then all of the children would SHOW the wings and carry the spines. If there isn't an over dominance then I assume it'd be a 50/50 of which gene is actually shown.
There has been the suggestion that there be a share dominance trait in the suggestions thread which I think is a really cool idea in which parts of both genes WOULD be visible.

Sometime soon we will add an additional feature to the Testing Kit that should help clear this up a bit.

Aka you're not telling. MEANIE!
(Though my assumption is then that the ones that are showing up with both are actually hiding genes. You sly person you)

Well then I hope that is soon because I was planning on using that information for a breeding project. =P

I don't know the answer to your question (new here too) but I just wanted to drop by and say hey, I'm on PI too! And to say thanks for making this topic, because I am confused too lol.
