So. If I had a trait filter (the Zolnixi witch, for example) and I wanted a specific mutation from it, if I used it on a pet with a visibile trait/gene in only one of the possible areas, would that guarantee I'd get that gene? So, if I used a nullification philter on the ones I don't want, I would definitely get the one I want?

if you wanted a specific trait from a Restricted Trait philter, you'd need a pet with at least one visible trait, and all the slots of that Restricted Trait Set that you didn't want filled with carried traits.
We cover it a bit in the "Restricted Trait Disruptors" section of this post, but basically the restricted trait philters remove one visible trait from a pet, and give it one of the traits from whatever set the philter was from at random.
(so a pet who's 6-vis can have any trait replaced, but a pet who is 5-carry with 1-vis in a trait slot that doesn't correlate to the specific set can't use it)
it could a) replace either M1 or M2 with the corresponding restricted trait, or b) remove any one of the three traits and give him G3 or M2 instead.
So if you wanted, say... a zolnixi with G2: (HH) Cute Witch Fire specifically, you'd need a nixi that had 1 vis Gene and carries in all Mutation slots. If it had one no-carry mut slot, it'd be a 50/50 as to whether it'd get the gene or the mut that went in that slot.
(also, oh no, so many new restricted philters, I need to update the threadddd)
