1. I heard that the higher priced egglings have more genes/mutations - is this true?

2. If so, what price ranges have which amount of genes/mutations?

3. Are the colors completely randomized?

Yes, higher prices indicate a higher likelihood of more trait points.

If we remember right, it's 2k scales (thread says 1900, so probably that) or above is guaranteed to be at least legendary- there's a thread on the matter somewhere, but I don't remember where.
(you can also get egglings/hatchlings from the Puffadore and Ny'vene shops, and obviously their pricing systems work differently. This guy was a 500k egg from the vene shop.)

Tho now I have new questions; what are the puffadore and ny'vene shops?

They're located in Ethernia, and are the only place you can obtain Tamed Puffs and Venes.

The Puffadore petshop is located in the Plaza, and hatchlings can be bought with Ethernia Badges, egglings bought with gold.
The Ny'vene shop is located in The Arena, hatchlings are bought with Arena Marks, egglings are bought with gold
