I am a Guardian of GaHoole. From this night on, I dedicate my life to the protection of owlkind. I shall not swerve in my duty. I shall support my brother and sister Guardians in times of battle as well as in times of peace. I am the eyes in the night, the silence within the wind. I am the talons through the fire, the shield that guards the innocent. I shall seek to wear no crown, nor win any glory. And all these things I do swear upon my honor as a Guardian of GaHoole until my days on this Earth cease to be. This be my vow. This be my life. By Glaux I do swear.

You are an owl at the Great Tree. You are training tirelessly to keep your skills sharp. You are a member of one of many chaws. This roleplay brings the books to life with our own characters. Be whatever you want to be. The Pure Ones are rising, so hurry!

Rules:
1. This is based off of the books, not the movie
2. Only nine people, other than me, can sign up
3. You can have up to as many characters as you can handle.
4. I want people to try and be in each of these categories: Guardian in Training, Full Fledged Guardian, Pure One (like one person is a pure one, another is a guardian in training, etc.)
5. I play the rybs ((they require more focus on exact facts from the books)) and High Tyto of the Pure Ones. I know that's a lot of characters for me, but I have a few ideas for them.
6. In the extra section of your form, put your favorite quote.
7. Be kind to everybody. Be mean to the character, not the human behind it.
8. Make sure to not just do female characters and have fun!

Research-and-Printing: self explanatory
Colliering: the art and skill of diving into forest fires in order to harvest coals and embers for blacksmiths. ((If you pick this one, you must also take Weather Interpretation))
Weather Interpretation: The purpose of the weather chaw is to fly into bad weather, such as hurricanes and tropical storms, in order to gather weather information for the Great Ga'Hoole Tree.
Blacksmithing: Forging armour, battle claws, weapons and various other things like pots and pans.
Search and Rescue: self explanatory
Navigation: Students in the navigation chaw have to remember constellations and relate it to different land locations at different times of the year.
Tracking: Trackers can identify the tracks of birds and small land animals, and put together clues that will tell them of an event that has happened in the past.
Ga'Hoolology: It specializes in caring for the great tree. The activities they perform include pellet burying, vine trimming, and pruning.

Bio: Strux Struma is named after her Mum's role model and hero. She has become just as intelligent and brave as Outulissa, but just as gentle and kind as her Da, Cleve. She has grown strong and has taken over the Ga'Hoolology Chaw. Otulissa still lives in the tree, but has dedicated her time to replenishing the library with even more books. Strux Struma has three siblings, all who are fierce Guardians themselves.
Personality: Strux Struma is a smart, chipper owl. She loves to write and read, just like her mum. She does find certain things vulgar. However, she loves her job as a ryb and cherishes the tree. She even loves to teach natural history of the tree.

Bio: When Don was a tiny baby, he was introduced to the way of the Pure Ones. He was raised with his parents who were devoted members. When he grew older, his gizzard told him this place was evil and he needed to leave. He was 1 when he managed to escape. Since then, he has worked really hard to become the Guardian he is today. His mentor taught him everything he needed to know before he stepped down because they became too old, in their opinion. He was proud to accept the job as ryb of Colliering.
Personality: Don has a very good sense of humor. Anything can make him laugh with glee. He likes to be informed and does not agree with the term 'ignorance is bliss'. He loves to fly and loves to take risks. That's why he likes being the ryb of Colliering so much.

Bio: Maria was born in the Northern Kingdoms. She actually lived a great childhood and began to explore on her own. When she heard the legend of the Great Tree, she wanted to discover it for herself. She set out on her long journey. When she got there, she was exhausted, but she had braved the storms she had encountered. During training, she showed great expertise in weather interpretation. She devoted her life to it. Her skill and devotion were duely noted. Her wisdom in the field is why they gave her the position of ryb when the current teacher died.
Personality: Maria is a no funny business kind of owl. She has no room for jokes and messing around in her Chaw. It's dangerous work to fly through such intense weather conditions. Focus is key. However, she is still a socialable owl. Very loyal, and, due to her older age, very wise. Maria intends to follow her predecessor and keep her job until death.

Bio: Peter was hatched in The Great Tree. He has always had a creative streak and a fascination for fire. As soon as he was legible for Chaw training, he found a love for blacksmithing. The Tree's blacksmith saw this eagerness and took him in as a personal apprentice. Then the roles were switched. Peter became the ryb while his mentor assists him.
Personality: Peter is a lively, tirelessly creative owl. He is eager to teach others how to take fire to create. His favorite thing to create are battle claws and helmets.

Character Name: Beatrix
Age: 12 years

Species: Eurasian Eagle Owl/ Bubo bubo

Bio: Beatrix comes from the Kingdom of Ambala, a large swathe of forest between Silverveil and the Desert of Kuneer. She would have grown up happily here if her little brother hadn't been snatched. She went after the owls, but was attacked as she drew closer to their hiding place. She was too wounded to fly. Then the Guardians came to the rescue on one of their Search and Rescue classes. They took her back to the tree where she healed and grew up into a strong owl. She was inspired by the Search and Rescue Chaw and decided to work hard to be tapped for it. After that, she became one of the best members. The ryb was so impressed that when it came time for him to pass into the next life, he suggested she be the next ryb.
Personality: Beatrix is an understanding owl who is always willing to listen and give advice. She is also a low key kind of owl who isn't very strict on anything. But when it's time to focus and work, you better do so. She is not one you want to be on the bad side of.

Eurasian Eagle Owls are the biggest owls in the world. Your owls may feel tiny compared to her.

Character Name: Dirk
Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Species: Burrowing Owl/ Athene cunicularia

Bio: Dirk's parents were eaten by bigger, very evil owls ((not Pure Ones, but an ally perhaps)). Dirk and his sister were lucky to have lived. They stayed in their burrow, terrified to go outside and leave the other two eggs behind. However, they needed food. They went out in search of food and met a very kind Eastern Screech Owl. She was a Guardian who had gone out on a solo mission. She went to get some fellow Guardians to help transport them to the tree. The eggs hatched, but only one hatchling survived. Dirk learned to fly and grew stronger as he grew. He showed great skill in tracking. The old ryb of the Tracking Chaw left for no apparent reason and left everybody to scramble to appoint a new one. Dirk got it after a letter of recommendation was found in the old ryb's nest.
Personality: Dirk is a hyperactive owl who can't stay still very long. Because of all his energy, he can be hard to follow, but he's a fun, caring owl. He loves teaching young owls.

Species: Western Screech Owl/ Megascops kennicottii

Bio: Serenity was born in Silverveil to gizzard resisters ((those who avoid violence at all costs)). She learned to fly, but before it came time to leave the nest a really bad storm whipped through. The family tree fell in the wind. The other eggs did not survive. Her mother and father were heartbroken over losing these eggs. It made Serenity and her older brother who was supposed to leave that day feel unwanted. They bother left as soon as the storm let up. They made their way to The Great Tree where they were welcomed warmly. They trained and trained. Serenity had a knack for navigation and was soon flawless at it. Many missions were successful with her in the lead as a guide. The old ryb stepped down do to a bad wing from a recent battle that would not heal properly. She recommended Serenity proceed her.
Personality: Serenity is much like Maria. No funny business and very serious. She can also be very grumpy a lot of the time. But even with this, her loyalty, knowledge of the stars, and wisdom are all good traits that stand above everything else.

Bio: Marvin has lived in the tree all his life. He gained the position of research and printing ryb ten years ago. Ellie arrived four years ago from the Desert of Kuneer due to a bad wing. She can't fly and was stuck in this Chaw. However, she enjoys it and it very intelligent. Marvin is very old and needs someone to be there for him in case he needs help. Ellie is that someone. They are best friends and a great team. It is already decided who will be Marvin's successor, even though she is basically considered a ryb as well already.
Personality: Marvin is a wily old owl who spends most of his time with his beak in his books or his talon wrapped around a quill to write. Ellie is a lively, young owl with a sense of humor who does all the heavy book work. Collecting data from the Weather Interpretation Chaw and the Ga'Hoolology Chaw, then giving it to Marvin to write. Though, she's been doing more writing as of recently. She is quick on her feet since she cannot fly, but she does not let this bog her down.

Character Name: Malak "High Tyto"

Bio: Malak grew up without a father. His mother told stories of the greAtness of the Pure Ones and how his father died for their cause. The Pure Ones had been scattered quite a bit after their last battle with the Guardians. It had been some time since then, though. A Golden Age was bound to occur again for the Tyto race. Malak intended to start it. He took his siblings to the Southern Kingdoms ((for they had been born in the Northern Kingdoms)) and they began to recruit and build the Pure One empire again. There was no doubt who should be the leader. Malak had taught himself how to read by recruiting the help of a young sooty who was on a pilgrimage from the Glauxian Brothers Retreat. Malak intends to right the mistakes of the past and make the spirit of Nyra proud.
Personality: Malak is a cruel, cruel owl with little to no mercy in his heart. He is clever and very intelligent for one who didn't learn to read until recently. He collects war books and books on flecks, most of which he stole from other owls. Malak has no love for anything except his cause. He craves the destruction of the Guardians.
Chaw: None. He is a Pure One.
Extra: Malak is unusually large for a male barn owl. Where's battle claws all the time.

I don't know who has read the books or not, but you really don't have to. I could explain stuff you don't know. But here is an interest ping!

I remember seeing the movie, but I haven't read the books.

The movie is similar to the books, but the books go more in depth with history and stuff. Also, Kludd is Metal Beak in the books. St. Aggies is not run by the Pure Ones, either. But that's pretty much it.

I don't really remember the movie that much. I remember little bits and pieces of it.

Save a fully 'fledged' guardian. Collie ring chaw is my favorite, probably followed by navigation. I liked the books, but some were borrowed from the library.

Might I recommend the wiki page? It gives a very good rundown of every book in surprising detail.
