I was wondering if the eggs in the scale shop were the same species? when I go to the shop, all of the eggs look alike except for the coloring. Is their anyway to tell what the egg is or is it just a random gamble?

All species share the same egg image except for the fabled species. Fabled species are the Ny'Vene, Lighira and Nephini.

Oh, okay. Didn't realize that. so I guess it is just a random gamble depending on which egg you buy.

once u get to the 3rd region they sell strictly puffadore and ny'vene eggs at shops dedicated to these eggs

But in answer to your question, yes, the Scale shop is a gamble.
The scale shop is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. (Sorry Forest Gump's Mama.)
Although, you do know this- the more expensive ones are usually worth it, with better/more genes.
