I read a really good tutorial here for how the traits inherit (they're all recessive, apparently), but I'm still unclear on how colors are transmitted to offspring. For instance, if I breed a green critter and a purple critter, what color do I end up with? Also, if the two parents have visible traits on the same gene, what determines which is dominant?

You can get either parents color, or any mix between the two of them, with some variation.

So say you have A Red father and a Blue mother. The offspring could:

Be the same red as it's father
be the same blue as it's mother
be any range of red to purple to blue between the father and mothers colors

I think there might be a bit of variety involved as well, but it's so hard to test for that I don't actually know. Essentially though, it would mean that two parents with the exact same color could still produce a baby that a tiny bit different in color. But I'm not actually sure on that, because it's so hard to get two pets to have the exact same color to test it with.

If anyone else knows for sure on that last part please feel free to correct me.

@Moondragon007,

For what determines dominant genes, it would be the order in the drop-down menu. The newer the gene, the more recessive it is, and the lower on the drop-down menu in a generator it would be. For example, the Zolnixi's Cross Fox gene will be more recessive than all the other genes until an new one comes out.

You can also tell this by looking at the pets image URL. A is the most dominate, and the farther down the alphabet, the more recessive it is.
